Fulmer Discussion (Merged)

Jon Gruden. He will be on his way out soon.

Pete Carroll was never a good NFL coach, but when he got to USC he blossomed.

I say throw 3 million to Gruden and let him coach. He is a relentless working and I know he could recruit.

I heard a very good coach once say a team loses by more than 7 the players lost it, a team loses by less than 7 the team got out coached. Thoughts?

Well we have split the last six with UF. Just think how they feel (like we did in the 90's) they haven't played in a SEC champ game since 2000. Yikes.

I prefer the Bear Bryant theory: If we win, it's the players. If we lose, it's me.

If Tampa Bay fired Gruden, he would have another NFL job in about 36 seconds. He's not leaving the pros.

My thoughts exactly. Many teams would love two have Gruden. I dont see him coming to UT. I really do not see firing Fulmer unless we lose 5 games this year. I could see more of him coaching for a couple more years than retiring. His buy out is so much after this season I just do not see it happening.

His numbers, when all relevant information is factored in, are respectable against what would be considered his most successful peers.

What's respectable about his losing records to Saban and Tommy Tuberville and his being owned by Florida? I'm not including Fulmer, which you shouldn't object to since you don't believe he's an elite coach anyway.

Wonder if any coaches contract have it where they can be fired and not paid the rest of their cash if they fail to with up hold a programs presteige or a specific record.

Anyway I said this in an earlier thread. If Fulmer were to get fired the first name that would come up for head coach is sitting in the Press Box each Saturday. David Cutcliffe.

hat, I've been wondering. If you had a vote, how would you come down if someone called the question on no confidence in Fulmer?

I would take 2.5 million of your three and give to Rodney Garner to return to the hill and have a chimp throw a dart at the board of unemployed coaches and hire him to coach Rodney's recruits.

Friends we are starting to lose now because of talent deficits compared to the big boys (Florida, Georgia, etc.).

If UT wins at least 9 regular season games, I don't think the numbers merit his dismissal. Anything less than that should result in the end of his tenure.

He's one game under .500 against Saban and Tuberville. I don't ever remember Auburn going into Athens and delivering a HHH quality beatdown like Tuberville administered to TCHFCATUTK in Knoxville in '04. While the Big Orange Buddah may not be an elite coach, he did use to preside over an elite program. If I'm not mistaken, Richt has as many SEC titles as TCHFCATUTK, in a considerably shorter window of opportunity.

A truly inspired and brilliant post.

Seriously? I think he's more relevant than the others that were listed considering Zook wasn't that great of a coach and Super Richt was still 1-3 against him.
You guys are hilarious. You'll latch onto anything in a feeble attempt to prop up TCHFCATUTK. The truth is real simple. He's the fourth best coach in his own division. But hey, the majority of our fan base likes it that way. I just hope everyone enjoys Shreveport and Nashville in December.

That's all fine and dandy as long as you see my point.

I think you're just grumpy because Miami and Oklahoma lost this weekend.:p

There is no real point. That record against Zook hasn't prevented Richt from winning two SEC titles in the last 4 years. Exactly when was the last time the the Big Orange Buddah clutched a trophy?

Richt has to win a National title this year or he'll fall behind Fulmer's pace of winning one in his 6th year.
