Bad shooting days happen to every good/great ball player....Just the way it is.

Kellie doesn't take time outs because she often wants the team to work through it (she said this last year)...May not agree all the time with this, but she is the coach.

Team wins together, and team loses together....This was a team loss, nothing more, nothing less.

That would be something someone needs to ask the coach. We may have to do it some with KK but see no reason Key has to have help.

The Big 12 is overall much weaker this season due to graduations, transfers and coaching changes (not Texas). The best players from a number of teams transferred out of conference. Star center for KState is out with an ankle. Baylor and Texas will lead the way.

Iowa State has a decent team but their PG play is young and really shaky. They were vastly over ranked to start the season. Their PG picked the ball up in the paint and got called for 3 seconds twice the other night.

WVU is also comparatively much better than they were a year ago. They returned all of their better players aside from Martin. She was not as consistent last season as she had been previously. Gondrezick was their leading scorer last season and has scored 20+ in every contest this season. They added Jayla Hemingway (MSST) and Carson (Georgia Tech) who aren’t individually as good as Martin but collectively make them a much better team. Martinez is averaging 13.5 boards compared to 6 last season. That more than replaces Martin’s 4 a game. Those numbers will drop in Big 12 play but it’s still a massive improvement. They aren’t a great team and we should have beaten them. But they aren’t a middle of the pack Big 12 team this season.

LOL take your "Girl please" somewhere else.

This is the common defense mechanism we've seen ever since Holly took over as coach. All of sudden, these average teams that Tennessee is losing to become "really good teams"...even if they are unranked, have mediocre records, etc. I didn't lower my standards when Holly was coaching, and I haven't lowered them with Kellie. WVU is the exact kind of team that Tennessee would have steamrolled in the past back when CPS was coaching. And in the rare event that she would have lost to them, no one would be talking about how that team was actually a "really good team". They saw the loss for what it was: a bad loss to a not so good team.

I'll revisit this post at the end of the season. I don't see WVU finishing in the top 3 of the weak B12. Baylor, Texas and Iowa State will have that locked up. Maybe they squeeze by KState, at which point they move up from "middle of the pack B12 team" to "just above middle of the pack B12 team".

I think she is only 6’4”.

But shot blocking is timing and some have it naturally. I believe Key does and KK doesn’t.

And KK just doesn’t jump very well.

One of the best shot blockers I’ve seen was UConn’s Kiah Stokes. She had great timing and could jump well. And was only 6’3.

Key should start with Greene.

What's there to know about them, other than the fact they've got 1 good team, a pair of marginal ones, and a bunch of forgettable ones? They are far and away the weakest of the P5 conferences this season, and there's no arguing that. But somehow, losing to a team picked to finish #5 in this weak conference isn't that bad because "they're, like, a REALLY good team".

You shouldn't throw stones in your glass house when your overall knowledge of the basketball teams looks pretty damn shaky.

Going by last year, which is all we have at the moment, didn’t the Big 12 pretty much manage the SEC in the challenge?

I understand. My point is, if a middle to back of the pack Big 12 team can even remotely keep up with the LV’s, that doesn’t bode very well. Quit making excuses. Officiating, play (good or bad by both teams), coaching...it’s all
part of playing the game. Sounds like some want to make it either one (teams lose to are not good, we beat ourselves) or the other (team was good, but we beat ourselves). Gets old as hell itself.

We don't have to go by last year; we can go by this year's result. The B12 is overall weaker this year than they were last year. Baylor is probably the only team that will be ranked for the majority of the season. Vic might be able to do something with Texas, but they lost a ton from last year and have a lot of skills gaps that he's going to need to cover for. I can see them losing games to lesser teams when Collier doesn't play well, and he doesn't have much to work with on this roster.

All that's true except when Texas plays us. Someone will have a career game and their supporting cast will play strong. At least that seems to be what happens to us in games like this.

Teams still get up for the Lady Vol brand. It’s a blessing a curse. At this point we have to expect it though. We’re going to get the best from about every team we’ve played.

Ya know, it’s too bad you don’t look more at my content without hating on it because it’s me.

I’m a huge fan as well and feel I have a fair bit of knowledge to share. You immediately dismiss what I post but it’s only an opinion. You could disagree and try a little back and forth with me. I don’t bite.

I have great back and forth a with Amb. Never a cross word and I appreciate his willingness to converse with me fairly. I have agreed with Amb several times after hearing his response.

I seriously wish I wasn’t dismissed as a troll so quickly. Pointing out team deficiencies is part of message board conversations. And again, I post plenty of positive things as well.

Can’t we just get along?

She was more active than i thought she was and just had a bad shooting night. Hell i had one or two of those in my career! WV was the much quicker team and maybe the better team but we would have won at home. I dont recall Pat keeping all her timeouts to carry with her to the next game but Holly and to a lesser extent Kelly tend to do that. I guess we will have to wait to the next recruiting class to get in so we will have some 3 pt shooters although i hope Darby can help when she is well!

Looking forward to seeing Tess hit 3’s as well. Can’t Jordan Walker hit 3’s? As far as timeouts, in a tight game at the end, you never know how many you might need. Sure wouldn’t want to be near the end of the game and not have enough timeouts.
