Gatlinburg Being Evacuated

They will.

We lost a cat, but that's all. We were lucky as well.

Dollywood does indeed have a ride called Blazing Fury. In actuality it isn't ironic, nor really offensive. The ride is based on how fires used to be fought in the mountains. Soo not really a big deal.

Most fires are contained currently all but 3 areas of Gatlinburg/pigeon forge are expected to reopen tomorrow.

Wiley Oakley, Walker Trail, and my apologies I can't recall the 3rd it's been a long long week.

I heard the propane tanks explode on Walker Trail it was eery

When you say lost a cat, it ran off because of the fire/smoke or was killed?

Seen the TBI has received 100 calls about people missing. Hopefully a high percentage left their cell phones behind in a hurry getting out.

I know I couldn't call anyone in my family by a phone# without my contacts except my wife.

Any word on the area of King Branch Rd, Silver Poplar, Rose Pass, etc. area? I know the fire would be close but haven't seen or heard anything specific.

If I remember correctly kings branch is off of the spur, that area didn't fair so well.

Wbir is riding a camera looks like down 321 East Parkway and the destruction is unreal.

700 structures damaged or destroyed has went to 1000.

The main strip in Gatlinburg they will be trying to open back up for buisness by Wednesday they are hoping.

Edit: Whoever had a cabin rented this weekend and said the company refused a refund the town is closed til atleast Wednesday at the earliest. Really not sure how they could refuse your refund. Care to share the company? Rather not use them when I stay up there 2 or 3 times a year.

Wow some out of town woman reporter was being a total horses a** during the press conference.

The Mayor of Sevier Co cut the EMA director off and said "we did all we could when the fire shifted as fast as we could and we dont need some monday morning quarterback that doesnt know this area questioning it."

Sadly the death toll has risen to thirteen. I saw that last questioning the evacuation plan. I would love to know who that woman was. she was way out of line. i love how the county mayor cut her off.

I keep reading this. I can't find a video but I would like to see it.

I don't know the area real well but have been there a half dozen times. If King Branch is located near Kings Way, then it may not be good. My in-laws had a place on Kings Way that didn't make it, and it sounded like their entire street and area was wiped out.

Here ya go. First video loaded. It wasn't the EMA director it was Officer Cash he stepped in front of. This went on longer than the video here but it does have that great ending of him basically telling her to stfu.

I understand the evacuation plan and/or response could possibly be looked at but now isn't the time.

With 100 people reported missing no loss of life is excusable but if they got 14,000 people out of there I think the did a pretty good job of it considering what they were up against.

Isn't it 100 reports of missing people rather than 100 people reported as missing?

Wow. I've been to Gatlinburg/PF many times. I wouldn't consider myself "familiar" with the area. That gap from Gatlinburg to Bent Creek golf course; was it untouched?

They said the map was being updated as they came across and searched properties so I'm not sure that's complete yet.

I went to Outdoor Resorts today to check on our camper and we drove down the road to Bent Creek just to look.

The only fire damage I could see from the main road was on the mountain behind Deer Ridge resorts.

You could see where parts of the hills were black and charred.

They had the road blocked that goes to Cobbly nob/Deer Ridge.

I did not see this person's post but 99% of cabin rentals companies use the same contract. It is legal. They place all the blame on trip insurance.
Which in and of its self is a scam.

Tell me which cabin rentals company I know higher ups at several of them here.

Immediately fill a dispute claim charge back with your cc. Or ask for a future stay voucher.

99% odds this is Eden Crest, or Timber Tops
