Lesson #2 on Pearlites: When faced with a single question about Pearl, they act as if the man is a legend and is immune to criticism (which no human being is). Some take it to the point that if someone asks for improvement, they want to immediately know who can do better because "Bruce Almighty can do no wrong."

Either you're 100% Pearl is God's gift to basketball or He should be fired tomorrow.

There is no straddling the fence, it's just you're mad that we all aren't Kool-Aid drinkers that think everything Pearl does is great. I don't think ANY coach warrants 100% positive devotion. That's just stupid.

Unrealistic? Ludicrous. Look coached. Set expectations. Discipline. Cease cherry picking. Value the ball. Flash open spots in weak zones. No free layups (this has improved) and defend.

I agree with your post. My answer to your post is no you are not a member of the GIAGB. Go back and look at their posts and you will see the separation. I can see your points and agree with all. i too want nothing more than to get to the finals. However, Pearl is a victim of his own success. This program is right where we need it to be at this point in the Pearl era and the next 3 to 4 years is going to be telling as to whether or not Pearl can keep my support. This year would be a lot different with out all the losses of E, Tabb, Smith, Goins, Tatum, and Williams. I know some are temporary losses, but it was still was a killer to the momentum coming off of the Memphis win.

Here comes the "well who recruited them argument".

BS. You have stated, as long as we compete for SECC every once in a while then he can retire here. How does that imply that you want improvement? You are happy with mediocrity.

Pearlites? Pearlites??? I worked waaaaaay too hard to get my "Pearl Slurper Little Ranger Fan Card" for you or any of the Contra-Vols to start calling us Pearlites!

20-6 is a pretty darn good record for this team of merry misfits. We'll win 3 of the last 4 to close the reg. season at 23-7. I also think our defense allows us to win the SEC Tournament for the first time under Pearl, and The Vols advance to the Elite Eight after getting a favorable bracket, finally. How's that for irrationally optimistic?

P.S. I am playing more of a devil's advocate role here. I am on the fence in regards to what Pearl can do with this program in the future.

Look at what we've beaten. KU was legit and we did it. The other teams as talented, or even close, as we are have essentially beaten us. 20-6 is where we should be at this point. Any PG play to facilitate offense and we have at least one win over Vandy.

Our point guard play was abysmal for the first half of the season. It has shown a marked improvement with Maze realizing his time is running out and he needs to get moving. With that being said, this team gels down the stretch with Maze playing more minutes, getting more confident, and being more of a leader...

Discipline / Value the ball - I agree especially in shot selection.
Flash open spots - I thought they did great in the second half with this yesterday.
No free layups - I havent ever noticed this being a problem.
Defend - I dont see a problem with their D. I like how they play D.

I want Maze to get something done, but aside from shooting, he's not a PG. Don't like the player bashing this place has become, so I'll leave it at that.

You cant expect to compete consistently for the NC if you arent competing for your own conference consistently. That was the context of the statement above. If we win the SEC consistently we will win some NC's.

Maze probably needs to take some of Scotty and McBee's minutes through the rest of the season and allow Goins to play PG primarily...
