Georgia Tech interested in Bruce Pearl???

How many other programs do you think toot their own horn over being ranked #1 for 46 hours?

It is possible to win a "sec east title" whatever that is, and be the 7th best team in the conference. That should tell you how big of an accomplishment that is.

The thing is you dont have any stats to refute what I am saying and you try to focus your argument on items that demean the accomplishments. You know as well as I do that the following items mean that people are taking notice and the program is headed in the right direction:

- winning and placing second in the east the last few years (you are ludicrous for even demeaning this accomplishment with the teams that played in the east the last few years)
- a number 1 ranking
- rated in the top 25 consistently since Pearl's arrival
-along with the increase in attendance at TBA
- higher seedings in the NCAA
- the recruitment of 2 mcdonald's all americans
- increased TV exposure
You guys act like that Pearl came into a winning program and should have won a national title by now. Do you remember the curtains? If you and your boyfriend hat would get your head out of your rears you would see that the road to a national championship at UT has to be built with consistent winning and getting the program thought of as a contender. Getting to the tourney on a consistent basis and getting top 10 rankings draws recruits. We are finally getting great exposure which this year has resulted in a top 3 recruiting class and you guys want to fire him.

All I'm saying is that I don't agree with the criticism people give Pearl. Sorry if it seemed worded differently. I'm a huge supporter of Pearl and believe he has done great things here. I just think it is crazy that people believe that we can get a more elite coach than what we got.

Have you seen the money that we pay for Pearl?

And you think we couldn't get an elite level coach?

I've said it more than once but will repeat it once more for you.

We are paying Rolls Royce money for a Subaru Outback.

Who would you like to have here then?

My argument:

Jerry Green's 4 seasons: 1 sweet sixteen, 4 tourney appearances, a conference title, 2 East titles. 20+ wins in all 4 years.

Not a significant difference. Hopefully Pearl can expand those accomplishments, but it's definitely not going to be this year.

Lets fire Pearl then like we did Green and start the cycle all over again. I know lets go get Houston back or O'Neal, or better yet Buzz. Good argument.

So we only have 4 options? And all options are past coaches.

Sounds fair.

Who has accomplished more than Pearl that we could get for the same money? I am curious who you think we could get.

I've been consistent in saying winning the regular season is a big accomplishment. I just like to remind everyone that Pearl isn't the only guy to win one.

oh yeah no, never said you didn't say/feel that way; it was really just brought up more in general to the fanbase

for some reason, it's always just said (or focused on) just "he won X SEC east titles" which kinda becomes inaccurate....there's like a bunch of people who just treat it as that's all that's happened here, i dunno maybe just for their arguments sake. but there's a bit more to it than that

Yes, because my simply stating the facts comparing Green to Pearl is actually me advocating for the return of Wade Houston.

Pearl's salary averages $2.2 million. So, I guess you could put him up there in front of Roy Williams. But hey, they are very similar coaches. Pearl only has 7 fewer final fours and two less championships.

Hewitt is a terrible coach. He should be fired in a year or two.

I don't see Pearl leaving for Ga. Tech. If Boston College keeps up the losing ways this year and the next, BC might be looking for a new coach, and Pearl would jump for the BC job.

If Pearl left after this year (for whatever reason) the guy we need to go after is Lawrence Frank.

I think the point is that no one should be parading in the streets because you won your division. If it were such a big accomplishment, maybe Failmer would still be employed at UT.

Your right.....the fact that you win or compete for your conference on a consistent basis is not relevant at all because all the good recruits want to go and play for a team that cant compete. Sorry if this seems three year old, but no one is parading in the streets.....there are some of us that recognize where we were and where we are now.

No, the good recruits want to play at a place that doesn't pride itself on hanging conference division title banners.

He's really too involved in the school and the community (and at times it seems even the state) for me to see him pick up and go anytime soon

Kiffin was not really at all in such (for those of you who keep drawing that comparison)

What? You weren't aware of the Private Act the legislature passed stating that the line of succession for the UT basketball position shall be Pearl-Houston-Green-Peterson?

If the Boston College job came open I could see him going for that. I'm sure there are a few other jobs as well.
