Glenn Beck gets heckled at a Hitchcock film, others say he didn't, he cries...

Beck? Personally, I have no qualms with it. However, in terms of principal, it's wrong. Well, as far as physical retaliation goes.

As for the shouting, he deserves it. He shoots his mouth off 60 hours a week on television, radio, and the internet. He knowingly makes inflammatory statements... he can pay an equal price.

My guess you would not be saying Barry deserves it if people were shouting him down.

I totally agree.

And when I say "shouting down" I mean like with Ann Coulter where the students wouldn't even allow her to speak. Protesting is one thing, but denying others the chance to hear her speak is flat out wrong, no matter how much you disagree with her.

I mean, it's all within a legal limit. Regardless of who is behind the podium or what they're saying, it's wrong... but it's gonna happen. If they've pissed enough people off, they should see it coming.

The "but Obama sucks" defense. Such a rarity in these parts.

Back on point about Glenn. Anyone remember his comments accusing the president of harboring a "deep seeded hatred for white culture?"

So incendiary I can smell the bullcrap cookin'.

Just threw the Obama out as a counter. The larger point is that if incendiary means exciting a faction then anyone with devoted followers is incendiary.

I don't see anything wrong with saying you want to fundamentally change the country until I learn what is proposed.

Likewise, I don't see anything wrong with people saying they want to take the country back but for some reason that statement is called racist.

Does that mean we should get a free pass for throwing pies at Spurrier or Saban. I might change my perspective if that were the case.

Yeah, but whether or not they should expect it isn't the question.

I think this is much worse than getting pied. I don't think there's anything healthy about silencing political opposition.

Like I said, it's not a good thing... but it's hard to believe Beck is shocked about being heckled.

This is just a trying, divisive time for our country and people like him are every bit as unhealthy for us as silenced opposition.

Calling Beck's act 'political' is borderline but agreed all the same.

what are you talking about. Some bs about not loving the USA as much as you? Go back under the bridge.

Let me break it down for you. Barry said he was going to "fundamentally transform" this country. Now that would be like me saying I love my wife, she is the best woman on the planet and I love her more than any other woman on earth, but I want to completely change everything about her. Is that clear enough for you? I am not sure if I can put it in an easier to understand example than that.

Terrible analogy. Try again.

It was a poorly worded phrase in a speech that he probably didn't write that he read mindlessly off of a teleprompter. Let's not look too far into it. It was a political rally where he was simply being "incendiary".

I could be wrong but my bet is he wasn't using the teleprompter, he is usually good about staying on message and on point when he can read what someone is wanting him to say. It's when he stops reading it when he gets himself in trouble.

No one "deserves" to be physically attacked just because they are obnoxious or make intentionally incendiary or borderline comments. No one would suggest that.

What I was saying earlier in terms of the big picture is that if a conservative commentator goes to speak at a place with a young, loud, liberal contingent they are going to get yelled and screamed at. Coulter doesn't deserve to be hit with pies and iirc the guy who did that were criminally charged.

What she should expect is a lot of yelling and that kind of thing. I think that's just the nature of 20 year old kids who think they have it all figured out.

As for Beck, I wasn't there. I see him saying he was screeched at and that someone kicked wine into his wife. And he makes quite the big deal out of it on his show. But then we hear from people sitting behind him, who says her friend accidentally spilled the wine and that she and her friends immediately apologized profusely and helped clean it up.

I wasn't there so I don;t know. But if pressed to decide, I am inclined to believe that the truth is in the middle and maybe a little bit closer to the version from the girl sitting behind them for a couple of reasons. First, Beck had at least two bodyguards. If there had been a physical assault on his wife, I have to think that there'd have been some response by them and certainly a report of some kind. Second, if there was some antagonizing going on, I can see that Beck might have assumed that the spill was intentional, at least at first. Third, Beck has been known to ... embellish? .... exaggerate? ... whatever word you want to use and for effect. He's a little hypersensitive, it seems.

If someone threw or kicked wine on his wife, I think they should be charged. That's wrong and over the line. I'd like to think Beck can go see an outdoor movie with his family if he wants, but I am not naive enough to think that he can just wander aimlessly in such an atmosphere and not be confronted by some jackarses, either.

Whoa, blacked out for a second, thought we had Glen himself typing on the board.

Listen, I think it's as stupid as the next guy for him to be heckled when he's out in public with his family. But it comes with the territory of being high profile. Time to start dealing with reality. If he goes on tv and radio every day and has polarizing takes on everything, he's going to ruffle feathers. People should save the rude stuff for Beck's air time, but it's just not gonna happen that way.

That's the price you pay. If you want to be a pro football player, guess what? You don't get to go to nightclubs anymore. If you want to be a high profile actor, guess what? People will be taking your picture everywhere you go. It may not be right, but it's how it is.

I'd give him a piece of my mind for scaring the daylights out of my grandma during her final coherent months before she developed Alzheimer's.

Yeah ,i must have too. Is this Mao here typing this anti-american garbage and that thinks the idea of a free society is laughable, see , i can also throw out little barbs and name call.
Your point is flawed. There is a complete and udder double standard for conservatives and libs. Personally i am sick of it happening to conservatives and the libs making weak excuses to explain why. Why is he being villianized here when these "openminded" progressives are the ones at fault. Everyone knows he is open to criticism, and i am not even debating that point that he is a target or not, i am debating the falicies that he is a liar or a nutt or advocates violence. These are lies. Prove me wrong if not and i will take my medicine. I am however going to use your argument though the next time someone calls Obama a kenyan or lets do it with granny. Just take your own advice and tell granny thats comes "with the territory" of life, everything isn't pleasant and grand.
by the way my Grandmother died with Alzheimers and its a terrible disease so i am not making fun only a point , but i didn't blame then show Days of our Lives, in which she became distraught after a woman fell down into a hole and was upset that i wouldn't help the lady out as she screamed out for someone to save her.

Can't agree with that.
