Golden's dad disputes academic problems

Not necessarily I know a person who was kicked out of grad school about two weeks before finals of his final semester for plagiarism on a paper. First and only time anything like that had come up for the person and was a shock to all of our classmates. His reasoning was there was too much on his plate so he resorted to cheating. Maybe the same kind of thing happened here.

If anything, an athlete usually gets protected in this situations. If you want to get someone in trouble, then you can always keep targeting them until something eventually happens. I think that may be the case in this instance.

Bottom line Golden is no longer a part of the university or the basketball team. Time to move on. It will come up this fall in games by announcers I'm sure. Focus now has to be on where this teams goes from here. Front court looks solid, but without a distributor/facilitator they will struggle against teams that press.

So, you're saying that Trae suddenly woke up one day and decided to cheat? If that's the case, he would have been dismissed, not leaving in good standing. He also could have appealed. That also didn't happen.

I'm not saying anything about Trae specifically. I'm saying that just because someone gets caught cheating as a junior doesn't mean that they cheated as a freshman and sophomore. Furthermore, even if they did cheat as a freshman or sophomore, it doesn't mean they would get caught at that time necessarily. Lastly, the alleged infraction is "repeated" plagiarism.

That's what doesn't make sense. If he's a repeat offender, then shouldn't he have faced disciplinary action before? Also, who is the name that should associated with this claim? Until proven otherwise, I'll consider this reasoning to be a rumor.

Who says he hasn't faced disciplinary action before?

So are you suggesting Trae is innocent and forced to transfer against his will? Or that he was framed?

I see no plausible scenario where Trae Golden isn't the primary reason that he is not going to be at UT next fall. It just doesn't make sense that Martin would run him at the end of his junior year given our roster going in to next year and the heat he's under.

I'm saying that Trae Golden isn't guilty of repeated plagiarism. I'm fairly confident of that.

Interesting difference between Golden's circumstances and the circumstances of your friend.

And your source on that? Cause you were blasting the media's source.

The kid's father coming out and down right denying the claims. Or the complete lack of a credible evidence that supports that he has had any plagiarism/cheating issue of any kind.

That's like asking someone to prove a negative.

I've never claimed that people should take me for the truth, but I'm also not a professional media member that is running with some anonymous claim. I have heard the perspective of Trae's side and I've read the Knoxville media's side. I can imagine the truth being somewhere in the middle.

I'm hearing that CCM told Trae to fake the hamstring injury during the season or he would be forced to sit him down otherwise.

BTW 9/11 was set up by the government.

Trae Goldens father denying it proves nothing, what father wouldn't deny it? You won't get evidence as you don't have access.

This is a big charge to lay on someone. You really think the University is gonna let that kind of claim go out without nothing to back it up? The legal ramifications are huge if Golden did not do anything. The simple fact that Golden himself has not came out and said he didn't do anything is big also. I know personally, if a charge like that was laid on me and I didn't do it, I would use every resource I have to clear my name.

I'm not even fully saying you are wrong. I just think its a big leap considering the legal ramifications of making up a charge like that.

You must have not followed the football head coaching search.

This post should end any rational argument. But it wont.

Yep.

If UT says there's an academic issue, I would imagine there is. There's a lot on the line for an educational institution in this case. People that think this is completely made up think the only part of the university that exists is the athletic department.

We've heard Trae's dad deny it. That's one individual that I can put my finger on that has given some sort of evidence.

What is the other side? Who is making this claim? The University hasn't released a statement; Coach Martin hasn't released a statement. So WHO is claiming that Golden cheated?

And don't mistake what I'm saying, I'm not claiming Golden hasn't done anything which resulted in this transfer, or that he's a victim. I'm just questioning the reports that this is an "academic issue".

Has the University released this information?

I think this pretty much sums up the thread.
