Golden's dad disputes academic problems

We've heard Trae's dad deny it. That's one individual that I can put my finger on that has given some sort of evidence.

What is the other side? Who is making this claim? The University hasn't released a statement; Coach Martin hasn't released a statement. So WHO is claiming that Golden cheated?

And don't mistake what I'm saying, I'm not claiming Golden hasn't done anything which resulted in this transfer, or that he's a victim. I'm just questioning the reports that this is an "academic issue".

What evidence did his Dad provide? Other than being a person with a vested interest in his son's future. Of course his view is going to be skewed. A university would not risk being put in a legal battle by erroneously accusing or dismissing a student for cheating. Too many of you have to have video evidence of someone actually committing an offense before conceding an event occurred. There is no conspiracy. The university, CCM, and Trae worked out a deal to allow Trae a chance to succeed after he made a mistake. It's as simple as that.

Until given a name, I'll continue to laugh at these allegations. I do think certain people know Trae is not in the best of positions to defend himself at the current moment.

So what is it YOU think happened? You keep poo-pooing the academic angle, but aren't giving any sort of insight as to what you think actually occurred.

What source? You don't even know who the source is or what the source's quote was.

You're disregarding what an ACTUAL person said on the record for something an UNKNOWN person may have said.

Was his dad physically in his presence when he took exams, wrote papers, etc.? Horrible argument. This is where common sense should kick in.

ROFL. This board could find a way to argue if the wind blew harder yesterday than the day before. C'mon. He's gone. Doesn't matter the reason, he's gone and won't be playing basketball at the University of Tennessee anymore. We will likely not hear anything but even if we do, he's gone!!

Anyone opposing the Shaun will go in a corner :p

Trae's dad also said they have been considering transferring since February. I find that hard to believe (because if this has been in the works for months by the Goldens, it wasn't handled well at all) thus I take the rest of his comments with a grain of salt too.

cliff notes for those of us not able to get to this link?

Said Trae got into some trouble his freshman year also.

Said he talked to Martin and that Martin did not want to lose his senior point guard.

Said he talked to their teammates and they didn't want Trae gone but understood that it had to be done and Martin's hands were tied.

Surely, this can't be true. We all know Martin didn't want the only point guard with any experience on next year's team. Just never did like him any way---really doesn't care about wins next season.

I think most of the board (with the exception of the Duke fan and the Memphis fan) has reached the same conclusion.

The University hasn't said anything. The AD hasn't said anything. The Coaching Staff hasn't said anything.

People are basing all of this on one unnamed source in one GoVolsExtra article.

Is it really that hard to fathom that, whatever trouble Golden is/was having, has been an issue since February? Yemi was just let go in April for something that happened in February.

AND YET...here we are talking about a student athlete's academic record which is the one thing a school never addresses. Hmmmmmmm.

Was the "unnamed source" in his class when he took exams, wrote papers, etc? Let's call him and ask..... wait, we can't because we have no idea who made this unaccountable statement.
