Good News on Stokes

Below is part of the article. My cut and paste skills suck! Lol

Memphis does not have a scholarship available for this season. And though Stokes could get enough financial aid and academic scholarship money to basically go to Memphis for free, he would almost certainly not be allowed to play at Memphis this season because he would be considered a "recruited walk-on" thanks to an official visit he took to Memphis earlier this year, and the NCAA does not allow "recruited walk-ons" to play in their first year on campus.

My opinion: That tells me he can't play at Memphis or Kentucky if they are interpreting the rule correctly. Let me say this I have never heard that rule and unless its only a rule in BB then I don't believe it exist but nonetheless very interesting.

The pay his own way thing was cleared up on twitter after article dropped.

If this isn't a rule in football, how come we never have kids with great grades just go on full academic scholarship to save a football scholly?

I know a way that Pastner could get around the rule, but I am not putting it out there until after the kid is enrolled somewhere... :eek:lol:

I think I know what you are going to say but having him pay the money back for the official visit won't work. A non recruited walk on can't have more than one phone call made to the prospect as well as take an OV. So unless he was using burner phones every time he was calling him that can't change.

Be in the rock? Seriously? People live in there? Hahaha. MORON.
I'll start, why not. That's because no one cares about you and you'll never be in the rock.

Jealousy.

It's an NCAA violation anyways.

Better than a dead girls credit card.

Could be "the bag" that they have at auburn.

I can't answer that with 100% accuracy but I do have a pretty good answer.

Tenn only has a very small amount of academic money. A full scholly would require 32act at least. Tenn has really tightened academic money since the hope scholly started and its darn near impossible to get full tuition now. I doubt many FB recruits would meet that.

They can be on full academic scholarships in football, but the athlete has to be accepted and awarded the ship before the coach starts to recruit them.

No. There is a simple way to get him on scholarship and have him be eligible.

I was thinking in-state, strong academics. Basically somebody like Crowder or Downs.

Are you certain of that?

The NCAA allows for academic scholarships as long as the money is open to all students. Meaning if Tenn awards a presidential full scholly to any student that has a 33ACT and a 4.0GPA then a football player would get it also regardless if he had been recruited before.

That's my understanding of academic money but my experience is outside of FB so it could be different for FB.

Answer my posts I made to you. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for another gem from you.
Or did you pass out from your mad dog 20/20 buzz?

Yes. I work in HS athletics and have seen the situation happen first hand.

I don't want to be a name dropper here but I work on the other side and I know that a kid that qualifies with the rest of the students could get the scholly money regardless if he is recruiting in D1 sports. I can't see where FB would be any different unless they just didn't allow it at all which you are not claiming.

I am not sure about an academic scholly for a football player but I know that if a player comes in and plays football and basketball that he must use a football scholarship. Evidently they use to get kids to get on athletic scholarships (not football though) just so the football team can get around the scholarship limit. No idea how that applies to an academic scholly though. This might be what GoVols is referring to though. Giving Stokes a football scholly. What say you GV2003?! lol

I think football is the only one. I believe they do not have that in smaller sports because sports like Baseball are forced to split up scholarships due to the ratio of available scholarships to players.

I thought that might be what he was thinking. That won't work for sure. If he doesn't tell me I am going to loose sleep trying to figure it out! Lol

It would essentially cost them one early enrollee. I would say given the state of their program, they have plenty of room to play with and still take a full FB class.

Should go back and delete this just in case..lol

You said the line of.... Noones cares about you.... So that's pretty much not a joke. MORON.

Haha ok. You called me a dumbass, a prick and a moron in response to a JOKE. It was SARCASM. You overreacting is the only thing comical about tonight. And you still are stubborn enough to not realize it.

I guess I just found a weak spot in you. Does it bring back memories of a bad childhood? I apologize for reminding you of a haunted past. Wasn't my intention. It's a damn rock not your legacy. Calm down.

Only way that would work was if he played football. Obviously he can't do that this year so he couldn't be on scholly. I like the effort tough!
