Good News on Stokes

Only way that would work was if he played football. Obviously he can't do that this year so he couldn't be on scholly. I like the effort tough!

All they would have to do is put him on the roster. They could red shirt him and then he could later quit and take the basketball scholarship.....

Next year he could be on FB scholly but not this year since he wasn't enrolled. That would have worked had he been there all year.

Which would make him only a member of the 2012-2013 FB team. Therefore his 2011- 2012 scholly would have to be BB.

The scholarship takes effect day 1 and football is the scholarship that matters. His eligibility clock also starts the minute he enrolls, so I am pretty sure it would work.

We will just have to agree to disagree. I will find out about academic scholly. I am out! Good talk. FWIW skeets just posted he is hearing FLorida if you missed it.

No, it wouldn't.

If Jarnell comes in on a football scholarship as an early enrollee, he would not be eligible to participate on the basketball team during the 2011-2012 academic year/season. When you're using an alloted football scholarship it is for only football that you're a scholarship athlete. You have to walk-on to participate in dual sports in college. Jarnell would be able to walk-on the basketball team for the 2012-2013 season. On the other hand a player who finishes up his eligibility in 1 sport can walk-on to play another sport for 1 season assuming they are enrolled in graduate school.

Secondly, there is 0% chance that Dooley would forfeit a football scholarship that he is using to assemble his 2012 recruiting class.

Thanks for the optimism.

CD says the only marketing a program needs is on the court or field. My statement was in response to that. If he feels that way maybe he can be an AD someday and save some money by firing all the Sports information department employees. It had nothing with an announcement being their responsibility.

With all the empty seats I've seen...someone isn't doing their job. Maybe we should have a bruinvol bobble head night. That ought to pack em in!

None of this matters for UT. We have a bball scholarship for him now.

The Florida talk sure came out of no where it seems to me. I know your hearing Vols but are you hearing FLA has any shot other than from Skeet?

My guy I get my info from has some close people down in Memphis and he gets alot of recruiting info in Memphis, Bama, Mississippi, and Georiga area. He told me Deico Autry was going to commit to MSU and I told him he was crazy. So I have learned not to doubt him lol. He said yesterday that it was UT,UF, and ARK. We are leading ARK made a run but fell short and UF was pushing hard to get him but they were a long shot. Now maybe UF made a move but I was told he was gonna be ours, I will let you guys know when I talk to him today.

Arkansas is a non-factor in the Stokes game. It's going to be between UT and UF, with UF coming out of nowhere. The only way he'll go Memphis is if he pays his own way this semester.

He's announcing his commitment right in the middle of Memphis and Florida games on Thursday, that should tip y'all off.

How did Florida come in to play? I knew he was always considering them, but I didn't think it was anything serious.
