Stokes has still got to produce and live up to any hype that he has garnered. Him just showing up won't fill the arena. Had this team not tanked against the likes of Peay ticket sales wouldn't be an issue. Same with Fulmer's product at the end as well as Dooley's. Winning, especiallly at UT, sells! However, I will agree that if your product sucks, use every trick in the book.

His performance won't keep people coming if he doesn't perform but it with help initially.

It's all pretty much rumors until Stokes puts a hat on, but strong consensus is that he's going to announce for UT.

Uconn and Florida have never really been in it. Uconn is no where on the radar and Florida has made a strong last second surge. I'd be shocked if that were enough to sway him.

Arkansas has always seemed to be a distant third place to UT and Memphis. Arkansas has been a non-factor for a while. He's announcing in the middle of a Memphis game on Thursday and Memphis has no available scholarships for him. Memphis Insiders have hinted very strongly that Memphis fans are better off not paying attention to the announcement.

All the signs point to UT.

:hmm: This would be a surprise to a certain Arkansas assistant coach who Stokes is tighter with than anybody.

Not saying we're going to get him, because I also think UT is the team to beat, but Arkansas has been and still is a factor.

Let's make a big assumption that Stokes is a Vol and for arguments sake that game is his first game wearing Orange. The sports information department should sell that debut of Stokes to the fringe fans to make sure those KY fans can't buy those tks. My stance is getting Stokes front and center is so important for reasons like this.

I thought Arky was the team to beat for awhile but im not sure that is the case anymore.

Stokes is not tighter with any other coaching staff than the Memphis staff whom he has contact with all the time at Memphis games, the Finch, etc.

If you think "familiarity with a coaching staff" is going to a factor for him, I think you'll be mistaken. He likes Knoxville, has a brother (I think) and a friend (Cam Clear) here, a scholarship waiting and can play immediately.

I think that's what put UT over the top on Memphis. Arkansas, by all accounts, hasn't been in the race for weeks now.

True, he is tight with the assistant coach. But Ark is not where Stokes is going to school. It's great to be a TN Vol.

Depends on when he scheduled the visit. Early last week we hear he has made a decision and most think he is going to be a Vol. If the visit was planned before he made the decision then I agree that canceling it is good for us but if he made plans after then I think Arkansas is his choice regardless of whether he went or not.
