Gran/Wilson Fall-out thread (merged)

Sab I just think that basically people are all not understanding that Gran is better than almost anyone we can bring in for recruiting Florida.

Gran is also one of the only "good guys" we have on the staff. Future Marlon Browns would have their grandma meet with Gran, not with Coach O.

Gran is also heinously underpaid. He will not be replaced for anything like his current salary unless it is another year long internship for 175k from someone else who will use their time to get another job.
I wish we could keep him but we were very hesitant to bring him in last year. Could be Lane thinks there is a better option available than Gran.

It should say a ton about how much people love Lane if he can get a guy in who is better than Gran for that cheap.

People on defense are coming to get a stamp of having worked with Monte on their record.

A stamp of working with Chaney and Lane means less to most people, but apparently there are a good number who feel that it is a great spot to be in.

I feel bad for Cregg having to replace the whole offensive line and losing Marrone who helped a ton this year, but I do think that taking over the RB coaching with Bryce Brown and Oku would not be bad at all...

Just thinking aloud here but we've had two offensive assistants leave for almost double their salary. Could be a major selling point for future assistants. People might as well get used to this, if we're successful our staff will be raided yearly.

sucky right now for some parts of recruiting, but please refrain from calling other posters out about being insiders and giving them crap. Thanks guys and gals.

One player will not stop UT Football. Kids make decisions that might go against what people think. Wish Mr. Luc luck and lets rally behind this team against Virgina Tech. We'll be okay, this is just part of recruiting. Go Vols!

We will be alright, if Monte can turn Reviz into a SEC calibar linebacker then he can almost work magic, shoot he may be able to do that.

who do we lose when Gran leaves for FSU? We shouldn't have to pay him if he leaves before he's even been here a year... same for FW

That doesn't make sense. They both did a lot for this program. Have a little faith. If we want the best coaches, we must be ready for them to accept a better offer(for their situation and career), whether that offer is better for us or not.

This is a new phenomenon?

It's kind of just tiring to see people who don't put themselves out there come in a start criticizing the people that do. It's like never taking a risk and telling people who do that they are stupid and idiots.

I dunno. I seem to remember Droski getting a lot of heat for saying Dietrich Riley would head to USC. Essentially anyone that goes against the status quo is given the exact same treatment.

makes sense to me, they at least shouldn't be paid all of what their salary says they would be paid per YEAR. they weren't here a year, didn't even have the decency to wait until after our season was over to jump ship.. I know this happens all the time but that doesn't mean it should.

I'm not talking about those that offer a different opinion kpt, I talking about those that don't go out on a limb, then ask for information, and when it's given and proven right then all is well. If that info is proven wrong, they are ready to throw people under the bus really quick. It's like people expect to get 100% rock solid info on a message board at all times, when we know it's not going to happen and it's really not anyone's fault. Recruiting changes like underwear.

when people say their info is 100% rock solid they deserve to be thrown under the bus

Who's to say it wasn't 100% rock solid at the time it was given? Kids change their minds all the time, it's no surprise. The word "commit" doesn't mean the same that it used to. Now it just means I'll say I'm going here until I find something I like better. It's recruiting, it happens, either get used to it or move along.

Meh. It's not like guys don't get unreasonable amounts of praise for posting info. You take the praise with the criticism.

Criticism is one thing, but throwing them under the bus for being wrong about things they can't control is another. I agree people should get criticized, but that's not what I have seen tonight from some posters.

I'm not going to justify ripping somebody for their info not being correct, or turning out to be true. But maybe if you don't talk SO much about what you 'know' you don't get called out as bad when you're wrong. Just my opinion, but take your medicine boys... The recruiting forum, threads, and posters are so touchy feely.

They are getting the same treatment they gave the FSU guys that offered the opposing view. I'm surprised those guys aren't doing some serious face-rubbing.

Obviously something changed late in the game with Luc. Unless people were saying that he had already signed papers, there is only so much egg you can have on your face. I would bet that Jeff Luc thought he was going to be coming to UT until about a week ago.
