Gran/Wilson Fall-out thread (merged)

They think its a done deal in Tally offering him 325,000 with some great perks and bonuses that could make him one of the highest paid AC in NCAA. Think Jimbo knows he stays but its more to drive up cost and cause problems in recruiting and in the office IMO.

Damnit, I hate agreeing with Gators, I need a shower now!

Just push away from your pc and take a cold shower...drink a cold beverage and say "this is going to be alright...then drink another cold beverage..repeat this three or four times until you forget what caused this...

The concern was not in this class when Frank Wilson was unable to make major in roads, it was next years class when he had a top 3 DT who is his distant cousin headed out of state and a shot at some other TOP talent that the Vols really want and LSU needs to stay in state.

I get what you are saying but one recruit is not worth hiring a coach. I just don't see Wilson having the impact on LSU that others might have had.

I have no doubts that LSU will be able to keep most of the best talent in-state and the one's that do leave will leave whether CFW is there or not.

Eric, I understand what you are saying about CFW recruiting MS but that is also an area that LSU has had great success in.

If I were Les Miles, I would want a guy who is known for success in TX. Between LA, southern MS and TX they could consistently have top recruiting classes. It's hard to pull kids away from the Texas schools and OU but more and more kids are wanting to play in the SEC and LSU/ARK have the closest proximity for kids in that area who want to play in the SEC but still be close to home.

Its like hooking up with the fat chick at the party ( two bits' mom)! Everybody saw me do it, & I'm gonna say something like "I was drunk" or " dude, slump buster". My friends will give me crap about it, pretending like they've never done the same thing. I still feel dirty!

We already have 4 assistant coaches who make MORE than $325K. Money is not a problem at Tennessee. FSU can't compete with SEC money...

Not a primary reason to hire, but it is a strong secondary reason...its simply he will also provide insight into recruiting by one of if not the best recruiting staff when he just lost his recruiting man and he has a scandal where they allegedly paid a player to move from CC to come play for them...recruiting needs to be rebuilt at LSU.

CFW may be looking for a new job in 2 years if Les Miles keeps running the program in the ground. LSU seems to get a little worse every year under Miles after winning a NC with Saban's recruits. Miles doesn't seem very sharp. He is lucky there is so much talent in the state of Louisiana.

You guys are selling Wilson way short. He's not being brought in simply to recruit. But his connections in Mississippi and Louisiana do help. They will likely move responsibilities around and have that be his area.

I'm pretty sure that if Gran makes a lateral move, he owes UT money

I hope this is true. He needs a big raise, but how much raise does he get without other assistants wanting/expecting the same?

I could be wrong, but this would appear to be CLK's biggest recruit of the year. In my opinion, he has not made any major blunders to this point, so I will be expecting him to get this one right as well.

Yes, Gran will definitely owe money to UT if he makes a lateral move. And it would quite a bit of money. I dunno exactly how much he would owe, but Hubbs said yesterday that Thompson makes $350K and if he made a lateral move, he would owe UT like $200K to get out of the contract. That is a TON of money to lose. Gran only makes $185K. Somebody do the math and figure it out...

I always assumed (mistake on my part) that UT is going to at least match FSUs offer and get him to stay, but it kinda sounds like Kiffin is gonna let him walk...
