Why do people assume that coaches like Gran/Wilson/Thompson/etc. who might take another job somewhere else are dishonest? It's a better opportunity if they leave. Plain and simple. I highly doubt that Gran or anyone else promised a recruit that they would be here for all 4 years of their playing days. Get real.

I don't think he's trying to say they are dishonest if they leave for another job. I think he's saying that it would be a little hypocritical for a coach to leave and start telling one of his prime recruits that his new school was the best place for the recruit, when for the entire past year he had been selling that recruit on Tennessee.
 
They are offering him the job as the RB coach. It's a lateral move. Gran will stay in Knoxville and be rewarded handsomely by Hamilton and Kiffin imo...

Don't really know what he is being hired for, but if it is just RB's Coach I think you will end up being right. We will match their offer for sure. I doubt he will want to continually move his family around.
 
I think this would be akin to Rodney Garner leaving us. We were never able to recover from that. I think Gran has that big of an impact.

Eh... I doubt Gran bashes LSU or Florida on the recruiting trail. He might comment on their depth or something in regard to playing time, but it's called being a salesman. I don't see that as dishonesty.
 
I pretty sure Gran makes more than 150K. Wilson, Garza, and Reeves are the three lowest on our staff and they were in the 150 range.

JMO...no way he makes a lateral move to FSU....UT should offer him more money to stay...We should be glad that UT has a great group of coaches that other teams want...There is something special going on at UT right now...We are on our way back up to the top playing for championships in two to three more years...

I am wondering what the benefit is for LSU to hire Frank Wilson. He is a legend in New Orleans and recruits LA very well. However, LSU has never had a problem recruiting well in LA and even with CFW we weren't beating LSU for recruits in that area.

It seems to me like they could have used their resources to hire a Recruiting Coordinator who is a guru in other areas that they need to pull talent from. It seems like overkill to me for LSU to hire a guy who is best known for recruiting an area that they already do very well in.

I'm assuming that Les Brains wants to fully lock down the state but it's not like they lost many good recruits from the area before the hiring. Any thoughts?

They think its a done deal in Tally offering him 325,000 with some great perks and bonuses that could make him one of the highest paid AC in NCAA. Think Jimbo knows he stays but its more to drive up cost and cause problems in recruiting and in the office IMO.
 
The quickest way for a good recruiter to kill their good reputation is for them to start re-recruiting kids to their new school. I don't know about CFW, but I highly doubt that CEG would risk the damage to his reputation by recruiting UT commits to FSU if they hire him.
 
Then later, # 2 will show up with lots of "Fire"..

I cannot remember a time when poop wasn't funny, oh wait yeah I can, my puppy pooped on the carpet this morning! That wasn't funny for me or him!

I say that we offer him 400k per year plus incentives based on RB/ST production and the number of FL recruits he gets. We can easily afford to keep CEG if that is what we choose to do. We could also make up some bs title like Recruiting Coordinator of FL.
