Good points Old Vol and nice moderating work on this and the previous thread GAVol.
We all have different ways of making our points but should remember that ideas are being discussed rather than personalities. We have a mechanism for solving disagreements over ideas -- voting.
In the previous thread it is interesting how many of us were compelled to defend ideas that we may not be fervent supporters of to counter what I would view as extreme statements ranging from everything Bush does is wrong to liberals are un-American.
Personally while I found the discussion frustrating at times it was also good for the brain. Exposure to divergent viewpoints is a good thing IMHO.
