HBO's "Game of Thrones"

What in the crap is the point in watching something where everybody worth a damn dies or is destroyed? What is predictable is that nobody with a normal brain wants to see crap like that.
Nobody wants to see it, but it was kind of expected at the point with all that has happened. This coming from everyone's point of view.

Personally, I just got into this show the last couple of months and everything is still fresh. So to me, a lot of deaths that have happened are major.

Also, to note, have you noticed how Danny has lost most of her right hand people and 2 of her dragons since coming to Westeros? If you haven't noticed, she feels out of place. I'm sure its fueling her sadness and anger.

Not to mention he just OH BY THE WAY walked right into Winterfell just days or weeks after they were on full military alert, while carrying a very obvious weapon.

That's the biggest thing that's changed to me, the writing has stopped being motivated by character's intentions so much as plot. It's why sloppy things are now happening more often with less reasoning behind them.

The closest thing they've done to character driven intention in the last 2 season to me has been with Sansa. She wants Jon on the Iron Throne and everything she's done very much has been driven by that.

I don't have a problem with them not showing us how Bron sneaked in.

Yeah..I've noticed. I've been following this story for 15+ years..long before the TV show came out. I have not read A Dance with Dragons because it came out after the show started, and I figured I'll wait and see how the show ends before I invest any more time into reading those things.

Takeaways from the Episode...

Back to season 1 (always looking back) Arya already said she didn't want to be "the Lady" of a castle. No surprise there. However, I still have this feeling she and Gendry are gonna hook up eventually. Arya has a lot of work to be done with or without the Hound.

Is Jamie's redemption tour over? Or is he heading down south to take care of business with Cersei?

Bronn has more to follow. He has to.

Have this feeling Sansa isn't going to sit quietly in the North. Nor is Yara Greyjoy going to sit idly by in the Iron Islands.

Cersei gets offed if the prediction from Season 5 works out. Just who and where?

And why for the love of all things holy wouldn't you open fire on your most hated sibling, your rival wannabe queen AND her advisers when they were literally sitting right in front of you? Honor? Does Cersei strike anyone as honorable?
I thought Tyrion was toast, tbh.

In the trailer, Euron seemed to see something that surprised him.
Yeah...he actually looked scared/surprised at whatever that was. I just don't believe it's more dragons. Maybe Dany catching him completely off guard somehow? Here is s great tactic that will not be used because it makes too much sense, instead of basically kamikaze dive bombing everything Dany could just drop firebombs like they were throwing at the army of the dead from above the range of those bolts.

I would be surprised if it's dragons to be honest, but seeing him scared, gives me hope, LOL.

She is dumb now, she has Jon Snow and if she was smart she would join with him, and use his considerable magnetism to pull her forces together..instead of having to dominate him. If she was smart that is what she would do. Aegon the Conqueror did not rule the Seven Kingdoms by himself, and he could not have done it without his sister wives, even the one he did not like at all.
I don't think she is built to be anything other than supreme ruler. She is Targaryen and while she believes she is the best ruler for all the people, it has been her sole life focus and I don't think she will give it up for any cost. I am pretty sure she dies, but you never know.

We were talking the other day about how the book endings may be different from the shows, and how GRRM could take a wildly different direction - well, I found this quote last night. 2D7CC75C-1627-498D-961E-7D0997A92CED.jpeg
Supposedly, Jaime was never supposed to become a good guy. In an early outline, he was meant to kill Joffrey and all would be successors, blame it on Tyrion, and take the throne for himself. We see how that has changed.

I really hope he finishes the books bc I will want to read his ending as I think it could vary drastically from the show’s and hopefully be more fulfilling. The most disappointing ending so far was the NK’s. GRRM had so much history behind him and it was setup for there to be some big reveal/twist at his death. Instead we got Bran in a chair and Arya flying.

TV is finishing this too quickly and it is showing in the plot holes/lack of depth. Hopefully GRRM finishes what he started and gives it a proper ending.

Some wildcards that may weigh in...two which were lightly (almost dismissively) addressed in the episode. Yara Greyjoy regained the Iron Islands while Euron is otherwise occupied. They built him this great fleet in remarkably quick fashion (with seemingly no natural resources), they cease capability in that department? Yara sails to Dorne and picks up their scoffed at military and brings it when needed? I don’t think they’d cheat and bring new dragons into the scenario, but anyone else feel Nymeria and that pack of wolves could be a player? Possibilities definitely not likely but fun to contemplate.
Would love to see Nymeria return. I agree that maybe Dorne is not done.

Jesus Christ, get your panties out of a wad, McGill. Why would I hate that? I would love to see Westeros united under a benevolent ruler, clearly something Cersei is not.

Sure you pull for the good guys, I'm not pulling for Cersei. Frankly, I don't know many (any) people that are. You don't have to be pulling for a villain to understand their point of view or to appreciate the direction their character took to become a villian or pseudo-villain. Cersei has been set up for years now as one of the main villains, cool. The Night King has been destroyed and was a major villain for almost the whole show, cool. Dany taking a heel turn because she is becoming obsessed with taking the Iron Throne at any cost is a common narrative device and perfectly reasonable given her journey.
This is a sound argument. It does not appear that she will be able to reign it in, but I hope somehow she does. I am like McGill in that she is one of my favorite characters.

This is the “typical Hollywood” thing, that somehow we always get a happy ending...somewhat.

Novels, some of the greatest books don’t bend to those rules. Most of what has been published of A Song of Fire and Ice isn’t typical Hollywood so fans of GoT the story are simply disappointed to see HBO & writers so obviously changing things.

It’s not like I want everything to be doom and gloom, but most of us book & show fans would have just enjoyed the thing to be true to Martin’s original story. Granted him not having finished the series complicated the show doing that. Life isn’t always a happy ending, for some fans it’s not always a bad thing to see fair representation on screen of the harshness of life.

The thing about Jon letting Ghost go is the Jon is "no longer a Stark". Only Starks have direwolves and Jon, or Aegon, is now a Targaryen. So technically he can't have a direwolf anymore

Watched a nice YT conspiracy video. The Iron Bank may still be relevant, Cersei paid them off in full...but it also removed any reason for them to assist her or back her.

To sum up the 12 min video, when Cersei owed the Iron Bank 10 million gold her death would essentially mean they lost all that gold. Now she has repaid them (and likely won’t borrow more from them) they will perhaps fund another force so they can have an alliance on firm ground with whomever rules Westeros...

Maybe Dorne who aids Dany has borrowed funds for revenge on Cersei.
