HBO's "Game of Thrones"

I think some of the disappointment at this point is many of us think we have better ideas on how this should go than the writers. Combine that with weak storytelling this season and many fans are left thinking two years for this? WTF?

It’s really, really tough when you have gotten 10 episodes a season and then the final two seasons you get 13. I think it’s not necessarily how the story is playing out, but more how we are getting there.

I don't know. Maybe I'm being unreasonable but I wanted some surprises I guess. All we got was a dragon better at dodging and Jaime killing Euron. It would have been better if maybe Dany starts to accept the surrender and Cersei has a plan that almost saves the throne but dies trying. I am not sure.
The dragon dodging part, if you think about it, they caught Rhaegal broadside. Drogon diving straight made for a slimmer profile and easier to dodge. The question remains why she didn't do the same during that first attack though.

If you really think about it, they have dropped hints from the very beginning that Dany could lose her mind. People are mistaking thinking she just turned evil with the truth she just fell into madness. They didn't change the character we all grew to love. She still did all those good things, when she was in her right mind. But all the losses, finding out she's not the true heir, it was all too much. The pressure broke her.
They seeded the madness poorly. Dany did a ton of stuff in Essos that could have been shown as the building of her madness. But they always flipped it too being heroic and good. Before the past couple of episodes everything she has done in Westeros was completely understandable. The only questionable thing she did was burning the Tarlys like she did. Every thing else was her putting aside her personal quest to save the world. And tonight on the cusp of her ultimate victory with the opposing army surrendering she just flips out and destroys the thing she wanted most. What the entire f***? And Jaime and Cersei was a massive disappointment. Just tossed the Jaime Lannister redemption arc right out the window for him to die in his sister lovers arms.

Exactly what I was talking about in my earlier post about the journey and the destination.

I bet if you go back and watch, they have foreshadowed plenty that she is darker than we want to believe. We just thought it was cool when bad guys were in her sights. In reality, it's anyone in her way regardless of the situation
The show always made those actions heroic though. Had they built on them instead this would be a good payoff

Pam is going to wake up and walk in the bathroom only to be shocked by Bobby walking out of the shower. Bobby will say..."You've been dreaming about those damned dragons again, haven't you?".

Ha ha ha. Hoot of a post. You got to be of a certain vintage to get it.

I disagree on the seeded poorly part. Looking back, it seems they wanted to create a character you truly loved so that when she did fall to madness, which was hinted at from the beginning, you would feel the loss. Some people see this as a heel turn. It's much more. It's mental illness. A seemingly good person who's lost their grip with reality. It's sad.

As for Jaime and Cersei, I agree. I griped about that earlier.

I think the true surprise is it was basically over. Cersei's troops had thrown down their weapons. The bells sounded. Dany had won. Then she went ape ****. And a grieving Grey Worm and the rest of the Unsullied and Dothraki started cutting down soldiers who had surrendered. Victory wasn't enough. Dany wanted annihilation.

It’s funny I called Dany “Aerys with tits” like 4 years ago on here and got shouted down.

I’m not sure what we are exactly arguing?

My arguing was that it was still (to me) a pretty surprising moment she went that mad and burned it all down, especially after telling Tyrion she would spare the city if the bells tolled

My bad bro, I think you were complaining. That’s on me. 😂

Loved the episode tonight. Perfect ending for one of my favorite characters, Sandor. Thought we were going to get a Grey Worm vs Jon battle for a second.

Like most said, it would have been more enjoyable to see Cersei suffer a little. Really hope we get something more from Bran in the finale.

Well, whoever shouted you down was wrong. Her parents were siblings and her father had fallen to madness. In many ways this should have been predictable, but that's why I think they wrote the character the way they did. They wanted you to love her so that when she fell it would sting that much more.

There were things I liked in this episode:

The Jaime Tyrion final scene was great.

The Hound/Arya talk and the Mountain/Hound fight.

Arya's horror running through the city and then the white horse that showed up.

Yep. Where were:

Bran
Sansa
Bronn
Sam (don't miss him though)
Gendry
Yara
Brienne

All suspiciously missing entirely from this episode.

Also missing from the trailer from the final episode:

Davos Seaworth
Jon Snow
