HBO's "Game of Thrones"

Exactly. Anyone with half a brain could see that Dany was going to turn. That's the problem with this season. In the past, the writers were brilliant with keeping everyone on their toes and hitting us with moments we didn't see coming. This season, not so much

You can’t “keep everyone on their toes” when the show has 1 episode left.

This stuff has to come to fruition. It’s easy to create surprises when there are 50 stories waiting to be intertwined.

Exactly...every freakin body she has toasted has deserved it, this is horsecrap shock value writing. The same woman who was willing to lose everything to save life, just suddenly decided to burn innocent babies? Come on that is horsecrap.
Hasn't everything been in the single minded pursuit of the throne? Yes, she freed people but those same people then became indentured servants to her. I just think you've been seeing her through an altruistic lens.

He still sent out the letters he was writing.

He had a small pile of them during that scene. Later on, they were all gone. My guess is the news of Jon Snow got sent to quite a few people.
Yep gonna be interested in seeing how all that plays out. Varys may wind up being a hero after the fact...

He easily could have escaped before that particular part and gotten out word that way. It's almost like he was knowingly playing the part of red herring to keep her from suspecting too much.

Ok. That's fine...7 seasons... And while there's been plenty of hinting about Targaryen mental issues... Well let's just say they rushed it. Feel like turning Dany into a lunatic should have had more than two episodes devoted to it, no matter how many hints they dropped over the years.

A sequence of events that would lead to a turn like this used to take pretty much a full season. They did it with a scene change now...

I think most of us agree this season feels rushed and we're not getting the same quality of storytelling, but it's been more than two episodes. It really ramped up when she needlessly burnt the Tarleys, and when Viserion was killed.

Did the Tarly's deserve to be toasted for simply not bending the knee?

Someone on YouTube mentioned that her wanting to get freaky with jon after burning varys was to reference how her father got aroused whenever he burned people with wildfire

Agreed on the feeling of it being rushed.

It has been there since the beginning. Dany's entire arc has been about controlling the rage and obsession she has with the Iron Throne. She lost to her inner nature in the end. I think she accepted what she was going to become at the beginning of the episode when she was talking with Jon about love and fear. When he refuses her love, she said something along the lines of "let it be fear then."

I've really enjoyed her story.

I dont think Dany's turn towards MQ is THAT outlandish story wise but it has been rushed a little bit. I think the pieces have always been there but they didnt really start setting that up until recently episodes. So I understand why some people feel it has been rushed. This whole season has felt like a runaway train.

The problem is, the characters are no longer driving the plot, the plot is driving the characters and that is almost always an issue. That has been an issue since they ran out of book material to adapt.

If is when you think about how she has lost everyone. It’s literally Greyworm that hasn’t betrayed her. That’s it. Everyone else either doesn’t trust her, doesn’t like her, or betrays her. While also the man she loves has rejected her. Loneliness drives people mad.

I'm rewatching it right now. That scene with Tyrion and Jamie is heartbreaking.
One of the best scenes of the season imo. Tyrion is usually so well-composed. I think it showed well how far up the creek everyone is when he finally let his guard down.

After what HBO has done with this last season....god I hope GRRM finishes the books and puts these weak show writers to shame. I'm never hating on the dude again for taking his time with the books!

I will say this: if you wanna complain about Jaime’s end, I completely agree. It really felt kind of empty at least for me.
