HBO's "Game of Thrones"

Someone (maybe here) pointed out that D&D fell in love with Cersei, and after last night that's PAINFULLY obvious.

Like they knew they had to kill her, cause there wasn't anywhere to go with the story if she wins. But they did it in the most un-GoT/Martin type way possible, and that is the biggest travesty of the entire series. The ending given to Cersei.

They think they did something poetic, but what they really did was again ruin the character. She is one of the strongest actors in the entire series and you turned her hardened character into a defenseless/powerless woman. Crying for her brother to save her...it wasn't poetic at all it wasn't beautiful and served no deeper meaning. They took an easy path because they did't have the ability to think of a better way. AND THE BOOK PROPHECY GAVE THEM ONE, ugh...that's so frustrating, Jaime or Tyrion should have had that moment.

Again, if she lived...

yeah, they try to explain it....but neither are great salesmen....they have the personalities of a coffee cup imo lol.

as for Jamie, if you think about it, they've been setting up him as a rube too. his father never thought he was the man he was supposed to be, Cerci, as much love as she had for him, really just saw him as a means to an end. the only one who "really" loved him was Tyrian, and that, again was a giant sign of weakness.........

and in that last scene with Brienne, now looking back on it, you can definitley see the "i can't quit her if i tried" mentality....

eh, either way, they could have completed the redemption story line if they wanted to, that was an arc that was available as well...and it would have sat well with fans just fine.....
I never saw Jamie's story as a redemption story. More like living on borrowed time. Like he said himself, hes not a good man.

I don't really have a problem with the whole "Dany goes batcrap" angle, other than I'll agree it's been warp-speed the past few episodes. It's been pretty obvious for a long time she's had issues. She's obviously been power hungry and obsessed with getting the throne. I've felt like she would do whatever it takes for a long time, and last night was just the payoff for all that. Sure it was brutal but it also went hand in hand with her snapping from all the death and "betrayal" around here. To put it another way, I think she's all out of effs to give. And I hope she dies in a horrible way.

Jamie....now that was some crap. Terrible way for him to end (if he's dead). His character arc is now pretty much worthless and pretty non-sensical, and again they are so rushed that it feels even worse.

Overall it was a good episode but I can understand a lot of the criticism. I was really hoping Jon would have had to kill Grey Worm, because it looked like they were going there.

I'm trying to figure out what the "lord of light" gets out all of this. Obviously, it has been driving certain characters to be a part in something. It's faith driven, we saw that with Melisandre.

But what the hell is the point?

Next episode isn't a battle episode or else I'd think the armies of the seven kingdoms would declare war on Danny after seeing what happened to Kings Landing.

It all points to either Jon or Arya killing Dany, though. Since Arya got the night king, my thoughts are it will be Jon. I think we will get some return of sane Dany as she is dying, hence the bittersweet. Just my guess.

Last nights episode was a great episode despite not liking what they've done to Dany's story arc. I've felt bad for Dany since she came to Westeros. Losing her dragons, friends, half her army, all against the dead only to feel alone and betrayed afterwards. They had to have her burn the city to show her madness because nothing before showed me she was mad, just rightfully pissed.

I see Sansa not much different than Cersei now, just someone who's willing to manipulate others for power. She said in one episode she had learned a lot from her, and it looks like she's learned too much from Cersei and Littlefinger.

Think how much trouble Jon could have saved if he kept his mouth shut or made his love for Dany convincing this episode.

We got to have another battle right? Jon and the north vs Dany and her army? Because if they kill Dany no way Greyworm and Co do not retaliate

IT'S HIS AUNT...Jon being raised in the North has well rooted (and obvious) belief set in that you simply do not "keep it in the family" it's why Bran was pushed out of a window, it's why the Mad King was taken out.

I'm actually surprised they used Sansa, but again D&D haven't shown themselves to be anywhere -near- creative. You've got Varys, a character who for the bulk of the series has been absolutely amazing at knowing and hiding things so well. But you spoon feed him the Jon Snow is Aegon bit through Tyrion?

The series was built on so much being unexpected and people would spend hours theorizing how/why/who and trying to piece together the clues of what moving pieces put things into motion to happen how they happened. To then essentially blow the whole of that up in the last season, after spending 2 years filming LESS episodes is just bad...

Blame whoever you want, it's sad they allowed the show to nose dive like this.

well now knowing how it ended for him, sure. i think they could have gone eihter way. Jamie throughout the show, showed he had both redeemable and hateful qualities....could've gone either way....imo.

See..that is the thing though. In the show scene she walks up to the Iron Throne and snow starts falling, the throne is covered in what appears to be snow and she reaches for it, but never actually touches it.

Whatever metaphor they were projecting there was just a garbage red herring imo.
Could the snow be ash?

The only thing that made Cersei’s ending not completely flat for me was her final lines...were delivered on Mother’s Day. I think that was no accident.

Is she dead? It's not confirmed. I mean, it's likely, but we didn't actually see it for sure.

There was so little to this episode other than death. Killed off some main characters then 45 minutes of the dragon burning the city. I was thinking "when will this be over". First time for that in 8 seasons.
They just wanted to make sure you hate Daenerys. They showed her character less respect than the showed Cercei. They went way out of their way to humanize that evil rhymes with bunt at the end, and conversely went way out of their way to dehumanize Dany and make you hate her.

Elemental force of nature..Creative destruction.

pretty much agree with this. it wasn't my favorite episode, and i think my opinion could have been different had they done something better/different/waaay more satisfying with how Jamie/cerci went out.

i think they're dead, and if for some reason they're not, then i might think that's dumber than what they did in this episode.....

The only thing that could make Cersei's death worse is if she survived that somehow.

The episode opens with Jamie and Cersei huddled together, in the only spot not caved in.

Of course even if they weren't crushed, they should still be screwed because they'd be trapped, but you know how tv/movies work sometimes....
