Here comes the NCAA

This is an OMG moment and Reality Ck.

UT handed over all the evidence where other schools shut them down. We in essence handed them a case that in reality did the investigation for them and served it on a platter.

What's more, is that we imposed our own punishment, took corrective action and implemented it.

Again, served it on a silver platter to the NCAA.

The actions we took were good enough for most schools but because the NCAA didn't have to argue their case and spend $$$,
they maybe deciding to up the punishment to show that they can grow a tooth.

We gave them the information in Good Faith and they may well use it against us by stating it was not enough. At this point the AD may have to argue this in Court.

IMO, the NCAA wants to show that they have teeth, as this was an easy no/minimum cost investigation and they will use it against us to try to grow a tooth.

With NIL being on the board at present day, it would be hard to prove that Tennessee did not take enough Corrective Actions to warrant a gross infringement of the rules. Second, no bowl banned because it will cost them money in the long run.

Why did they let Kansas off the hook and when it came out to the open they won a NCAAM Championship. What's more, Self issued a lifetime contract.

We need to fight it now and recover the ground that we deserve vs laying down and taking it.

And also spent well in excess of $1 million in legal fees to hand over all of the sordid facts to the governing and regulatory body, also paid Kevin Steele a boatload of money to be a figurehead for a couple of weeks, if the penalty is negligible, Blonde Donde, the contract extender for Foolmer and Pewitt won't catch any flack, but if substantial penalties roll of the 18 Level 1 violations, her capabilities and attentiveness at the helm could be called in to question. She's not Bev Davenport, but she's not Jack Reese either.

Problem is that Pruitt can say anything ito implicate Fulmer and our program. It's going to be a case of he said she said. Not sure who decides who to believe, but everything in me says UT will not get the benefit of the doubt and all our self flagellation will be for naught.
So the NCAA will believe a guy who they already know is a cheater? If they side with Pruitt as you say it will open the door for any Coach to cry wolf. The NCAA already on shaky ground can't afford that.

I would think a bowl ban in this era would be unlikely, as the SEC would probably get involved to ensure no bowl money is lost as such revenue is distributed throughout the conference. The Vols are a potential playoff contender, or at least a New Year’s bowl, which would mean a lot of money would be lost by everyone in the conference. If the NCAA does drop the hammer in that way, I feel the UTAD will file a lawsuit with the backing of the SEC. I foresee some additional scholarship losses and probation and that’s about it.

No I don’t think you take his word but if he’s got some proof well then………

That is true, but wouldn’t Pruitt have already filed a lawsuit against UT and used this evidence, especially since Fulmer got paid and he didn’t? Why wait? Not saying your point isn’t valid because it certainly is.

Don’t have a real answer other than he might just want to stick it to us and what better time than in a NCAA infractions meeting.

I’m under the impression that we’ve gone through our own investigation, they’ve investigated all parties and have notified them of the ruling… UT and Pruitt want to appeal the ruling so they get a chance to do so this month… sooooo I’d assume all arguments, evidence and positions have been made during UTs and the NCAA investigations and interviews thus the rulings for former coaches, who’ve accepted their punishment. Aren’t we just appealing our punishment at this point…. Maybe call up precedence set in other cases?

… if that were true though wouldn’t he have presented that when he was trying to get his buyout, instead of now?

Pruitt threatened a lawsuit in October of 2021 but did not follow through with it. I don't believe he has any evidence of Fulmer being involved or having knowledge of what was happening. If Pruitt had presented any evidence to UT administration on that issue when making threats, why would UT leave out of the report which was completed after that threat? There is nothing there.

Also, would the NCAA not already have that information from the 4 staff members they have settled with? If that is Pruitts defense to try to mitigate NCAA penalties, he would have shared with his former staff just so NCAA could have info to bolster his argument.

Based all evidence that has been shared by Tennessee, the 108 page report and the PC, nothing points to Fulmer.

That’s what I’m saying… I don’t know that anything new or more worrisome is there, it really does sound like more of an appeals process of the final decision.

As relates to Tennessee, I think it is an ongoing debate in regards to the failure to monitor violation. Seems the NCAA is accepting of the other 17 issues with regards to what Tennessee did with penalties. More perception on my part for those 17. But, there is no doubt the NCAA and UT is at odds with a penalty for # 18. My guess is, there is going to be quite a bit of debate over that.

Pruitt and Ansley issues there are completely different

They said on The Sports Source that Fulmer has been called to testify. Maybe they will put him and Pruitt in the same room.

That’s not good if that’s true. He wasn’t even mentioned in the report and now they want him to testify.

Who else to counter any Pruitt statements? He fired him after all. Worst case is "what did you know and when did you know it". Bet they have that down pat.

One positive about Fulmer is that he knows how to play this game. This does make me nervous though, because feels like the Bruce Pearl situation now where the NCAA has the evidence of something and wants to trap someone in a lie so they can justify a severe punishment.

If they impose massive penalties after everything UT did in being transparent, there’s no way the SEC and a few other conferences stay in the NCAA. They will form that super conference everyone knows is coming. Way too much money at stake in this day and age to continue with this silliness when they let other programs get away with things way worse than what UT did.

I sure hope you are correct! Thanks!
