Herman Cain

The problem now is not the fact of the accusations. Its that he has BLATANTLY LIED ABOUT IT since the story broke. Makes him look like he has something to hide.

Yesterday morning at the National Press Club he expressly said he knew nothing about a settlement. NOTHING. It is on video.

Then, a few hours later, he is on with Greta on Fox and talks at length about the general counsel coming in and telling him it was settled and what the terms were, etc.

This is the same kind of thing that took down Weiner, for example. If he just told the truth and said these ladies made these claims, he denied them, there was no corroboration and the insurer or whoever made a business decision to avoid the expense and uncertainty of litigation he might have been able to weather this.

But not now. After he has blatantly lied.

He's done. Fork. Stick. Him.

Who do you think it was that was behind tipping off the original reporters on this?

I think it was Perry's folks, but that's only a hunch.

It is still sadly looking like Romney by default. Unless there are a lot more Ron Paul supporters than in the media. IMO.

Such an interesting dynamic. Last night commentator saying, and I paraphrase: "Romney has been at 25% of the GOP, give or take, since he began running for President 8 years ago. Right now, he can't do better because he is a moderate and the tea party wing of the party really dislikes him. Its amazing that, with the other three quarters of the party up for grabs, the GOP can't fund anyone that can last. First it was Palin, then Trump, then Bachmann, then Perry, and now Cain. In the end, Romney will grudgingly get the votes as he'll be viewed as the only change to beat Obama. But it won't be very enthusiastic."

100 % accurate. It is mind boggling how bereft of electable leadership talent the GOP is right now.

It's so weird. Will Republicans vote for a Mormon or for a true statesman? Either would be a rarity.

I would say the same for the Dems - they just happen to have an "in". No way Obama would win if he wasn't the incumbent. Wouldn't even get the nomination. The best from either side are on the side lines

If it were a clean slate, I think Hillary could easily beat Romney.

Bush II
Kerry
Gore
Dole
Clinton
Bush
Dukakis

I'd say all of those are kinda sad candidates. A guy who can really rally with rhetoric like Obama and Reagan is really rare.

Clinton** doesn't belong on that list. He was a star for the Dems. Even more today.

**I'm not endorsing Clinton, simply replying to a post.
