Hey alleged Christians ....

If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknolwedge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it.

-- Steven Colbert

As usual when these types co-op the Bible to prove their point, its a typical Liberal perversion of the word.

ever advocates war? really?

Never.

Matthew 5:9
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Matthew 5
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘AN EYE FOR AN EYE, AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH.’ 39 But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.

Matthew 26
52 Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword.

Romans 8
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? 33 Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 Just as it is written,

“FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG;
WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED.”

37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 6
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Romans 12
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. 17 Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. 19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,” says the Lord. 20 “BUT IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY, FEED HIM, AND IF HE IS THIRSTY, GIVE HIM A DRINK; FOR IN SO DOING YOU WILL HEAP BURNING COALS ON HIS HEAD.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.

and

Never pay back evil for evil to anyone.

reaching? not sure how it can be more explicit. first one forbids self defense unless you can define resisting as something else. second one forbids retaliation. since violence only takes three forms: self defense, retaliation, or aggression, and I am pretty sure that aggression is covered by other verses, then I am not sure what is reaching.

how do you read those verses?

Old law. Nailed to the cross. No longer binding.

Example:

Exodus 21
24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

But Jesus explains that was the old way and no longer binding:

Matthew 5
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘AN EYE FOR AN EYE, AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH.’ 39a But I say to you, do not resist an evil person;

None that are pro-war in a physical sense. Lots of war imagery used when talking about battling satan or evil, but not in a worldly sense. Talk about a final battle in the Revelation, but I have never been sure how to understand that book. I do know that most of it is allegory.

Not trying to say that there aren't any. Just saying I can't think of any.

Individual command.... not corporate nor a prohibition against war.

War is consistently treated differently throughout the Bible.

In the NT, we find examples of soldiers who converted but did not change careers.
