Well.........we can no longer say we have only lost games we were SUPPOSED to lose. This was just a poor executed and played game. The reason I put this on Butch and staff is because I expected these players to come out after competing against teams with far superior talent and at the very least be able to keep up with the Vandy talent. We didn't. That tells me these guys have not progressed throughout the season. I understand that we are working with a backup QB, but he has certainly not improved at all. His TD to INT spread continues to grow, and not in a positive direction. And I will single out a single decision that Butch continues to stick with that I do not understand, and it hurt us badly on a 3rd and 1, is his insistence in giving Neal the bulk of the carries when Lane is the superior back. Neal is going to get some yards and he will get his 1000 yards this year, but considering there are times that a D-Lineman could tackle him with a solid fart, why would you not put Lane in there to fight the way he does for his yardage and crack skulls as he goes through that line.
With that being said, I do believe that Butch is going to look a lot better once he gets his recruits in. I know it's hard to believe, but getting solid talent on your roster tends to make you a better looking coach. He has team full of pieced together recruiting classes that were brought in by different coaches to serve different purposes. I expect to see a great deal of improvement, just as Cinci experienced between Butch's first and second year there. I expect a good 7-8 wins next year and more importantly we are going to see some young players getting some good experience for the future and we will see the guys that will be coming back for sophomore, junior and senior seasons that are seasons and acclimated to Butch's demands. We are going to be ok. That still does not help me right now and I feel like I am going to vomit because of the season in general and what just happened. I am not too bothered by James Franklin. Let the guy have his time because it will be short lived. I feel guilty about saying this, but I am just ready to get through the Kentucky game with a win and ready for football season to be over. My doctor is already concerned about the amount of anxiety medication I am going through and my liver is getting clogged up with Guinness. I am just really glad that our games are played on Saturdays because if I didn't have church to go to to pray for peace of mind after watching this team, and the teams from the past years, I think I would have thrown in the towel by now.
