I am 100% convinced Butch Jones will bring us back

i can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. May be just me, though.
It's because we been in this tunnel way too long.

I see signs of improvement in discipline and some other signs that with talent sucess will follow. Other evaluation of coaching will have to wait until talent is in place. Idk how the hell anyone can evaluate that with the youth at skill positions and the clustercluck at qb right now.

Still on Butch's team. Would like for him to know that there are still some reasonable fans left. Hopefully, all the real Vol fans will show up at Neyland next Sat.

I know we lost but I believe our guys played their @$$e$ off today.we are going to get better as long as we give the effort that the team gave today.i know it was ugly but we never gave up in this game....

GO VOLS

I too agree with the OP. I think really what we are missing is a QB. We saw today that we do not have a QB, I thnik if we had one then Oregon is more respectable and Florida is a W.

I'm hoping the benching helped Worley. Honestly he seemed to play better in the 2nd half (I wouldn't say he was great, or even good. But better for sure). I think our upset shot comes with Georgia in KNoxville. I really think Georgia is over-rated as usual (Their game today was close longer than the final score showed), I hope they are undefeated in 2 weeks and I hope the game is at night. I think the Volunteers have a chance to do something special with the home crowd behind them.

I absolutely cannot wait until butch brings us back and we get to shove all of this negative Nancy bull sh*t back in their faces. We have the right guy. Patience.

Wow. I hope Jones does turn the program around... but the denial here is amazing. There aren't hopeful signs in what we've seen the last two weeks and this is NOT a team devoid of talent. Discipline was a HUGE problem today as time after time UT lost contain. The offensive scheme isn't fooling anyone except occasionally UT's QB and WR's.

I have absolutely NO desire for Jones to fail. I would LOVE to see signs of real change. They just aren't there. UF did everything but beg UT to take the game in the first half today... and UT gave it right back to them. MUCH of that was poor preparation, poor execution, poor decisions, and poor playcalling.

Make me believe. Give me something other than hype and words to take hope in. In what way is THIS team showing signs of being coached up more than they were in Dooley's first two years. Tell me where to look to see the amazing schemes and playcalling that put UT's players in a position to succeed.

I do not like being negative or feeling without hope. But I see NOTHING in these past two weeks to latch on to.

Perhaps we could come out against South Alabama in a shotgun formation with 4 WR's and just throw the whole game, while occasionaly doing a draw play up the middle with Summerhill or Smith at RB. If he is dead set on letting Worley start, then let him do nothing but throw the ball to prove he is worthy of being the starter at UT.

For those of you who think I am crazy, you are entitled to your opinion but I believe that letting Worley have a game where he throws it 40 times or more in a game might actually help him get his confidence back, even if its against South Alabama.

CBJ is the right guy with right staff. This team will improve this year and will win big sooner than most folks think. This team is not as talented as last year but it is actually proud to wear Orange. It is more fun to watch because the pride and attitude is there, even if the talent and depth is lacking. I have had season tickets since 1963 (the last year of the single wing) and I have seen a lot of Tennessee football. Have a little patience and you will see CBJ do things that Kiffen and CDD will never do.

Sarge, I know it sounds crazy but look at how our offense has been over the last 2 games against teams with actual Defenses. What we are doing now isn't going to work with the people we have.

If we don't change up what we are doing we have no chance in hell against Georgia or South Carolina and they are winnable games if we can move the ball and put points on the board.

That attendance could get ugly.... like less than 80k.

I feel like 6-6 and a bowl game is a successful season for us. Not only would we get a bowl game but we get an extra 4 weeks of practice wich is going to be crucial for our young team.

And I honestly think that goal is VERY reachable. We faced the best offense of the century last week with a great defense, and then we faced one of the better defenses in the country today. Yes, we are most likely going to get our asses handed to us by Bama, Georgia and SC, but we should beat S. Alabama, and pick 3 from Vandy, KY, Mizzou, and Auburn. Now granted we could also split those, but I'm trying to hold on to some optimism here :)

I see a lot of improvements in the team. The defense is solid but can't hold up when our offense stalls every drive. We were still in the game after all the failed attempts on offense. We will beat Georgia if the offense can find a rythm and it's not all that far away from being decent. We need the slot and TE to step it up.

Also, I think people need to remember. Jones isn't exactly seasoned in this league either. I bet he had some butterflies stepping into the swamp for the first SEC game of his career. He came from the Big East and MAC (Or whatever conference Central Mich is in), so this was most likely a completely new experience for him. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to put powdered sugar on a turd or anything, but this is not year zero but it is year one and unless you have your head in the sand, you should have known it was going to have some serious bumps.

Poor talent leads to these. Cam Sutton and Randolph are really the only bright spots on this team.

Tennessee is right where everyone expected them to be at 2-2. Here's to 3-2. :hi:

In a way... yes. He burned a lot of my patience. I am tired of losing. Tired of hearing platitudes and clichés. Tired of hoping for better days/plays then not seeing them.

I actually wanted Dooley held to a standard. I more than gave him the benefit of the doubt until he had ultimately failed.

Maybe it isn't fair... but I want to see Jones do something REALLY SOON to prove to me in a tangible, visible, meaningful way that he's better than Dooley. I have not seen anything in the last two games that looks any different from what we saw during Dooley's first two years. In fact, even Sal allowed only 6 more points to a BETTER UF O than UT allowed today against an O playing its 2nd string QB for the first time.

Stop making excuses. This may not be a championship roster but they aren't devoid of talent either. The OL isn't "poor talent". In fact, that is the most glaring indication that the coaching isn't great. They have regressed.

And no... the talent level has nothing to do with how well they are coached. Some pretty bad teams have given good teams fits because they were well coached and well prepared.

If you can't see this team is devoid of talent at rb, wr, db, dl, te, and most importantly, severely at the most important position of qb, versus even a supposed down team like Fla, just stop watching.
