I am 100% convinced Butch Jones will bring us back

Your Response Is Dumb. You Want To Look At Ranking And Results To Make Your Weak Argument.

Look At Situations. Look At Play Calling. Look At Leaving A Horrible Qb In Too Long. Look At The Gutless Punting Last Week. Look At The Soft Offense.

Those Are All More Troubling Than The Actual Losses.

So you're saying Oregon isn't a top 3 team in the nation and UF doesn't have one of the best defenses in the nation?

If y'all can't see the talent discrepancy, you're ignorant.

I saw a step this evening....the boys didn't quit... they were out-manned but still had the fire.
There was no reason they should have been "outmanned". In case you didn't notice, UF didn't go deep either in their depth chart either. They played about the same number of guys in the front 7 as UT. Their secondary is in rough shape. They don't have clear offensive playmakers either... at least they didn't until today.

UT's players weren't put in positions to be successful often enough to turn the game.

The solution comes with recruiting and as of now we have the 3rd ranked recruiting class in the nation.
This isn't an anti-Jones statement... however if it requires him having a team made up of players he's recruited before he starts winning 7 or 8 games... then he won't survive to win 7 or 8 games.

There's a lot of "love" here now. Let him win six or fewer this year and next.... then watch some of those attacking me get new screen names so they can call for his head. (Yep, I have already seen this played out here)

Yes, our offense is crap but if you could have seen how the defense reacted to adversity,in person minus commercial delays, it was incredible. Boys are young, don't throw the baby out with the bath water. In two years, I won't be the one signing the bet check!

I just want to see a real, measureable improvement that gives me a REAL reason to hope that Jones is the guy and not a repeat of Dooley and Fulmer's last few years.

Nick Saban went 6-6 in '96. Not a good coach.

Again, this is an idiotic proof of absolutely nothing. Someone else mentioned earlier that his first team at Bama was the first since 1970 to have not a single player drafted. It had huge discipline issues. Many of Shula's players refused to buy in. And besides all that... they in fact won one more game than they did the previous year.

It is far more normal for great coaches to make an immediate impact in the number of wins. I have listed the names.... so I'll let you do a little work for yourself.

Wait until the end to judge him. It's only game four. He can win 7 still.

7???

Are you fracking serious? ??

You are out of your mind.

I think we can do it. Expecting us to upset early in the year is insane, when the system isn't in 100% yet. If we get an upset, it will be later on in the year. We can make a bowl.

I'm just really hungry for a reason to believe. You've been here long enough to know that I LOOK for reasons to hang on to hope. But I'm tired... REALLY tired. I don't want to see "same" any more. I'm tired of the team "trying hard" but losing to UF.

I want that coach who will take UT back to the top. That coach... will show on the field that he's better than Dooley, Kiffin, and Fulmer's end. I WANT that to be Jones as much as any of you and more than perhaps most.

FTR, I liked his post game comments. But they're just words until he turns them into reality. I hope he does just what he says. If so, he'll get that big win or at least a win over Auburn to give him 7.

Just compare the two deep across the board, something should stick out to you.

I actually have... have you? Take a look at UF's current two deep... try USCe. The Gamecocks are actually thinner than UT and have many of the same problems in the secondary. Their LB play has been mediocre.

Auburn is worse than us believe it or not. You're not going to see any signs at all until maybe week 7. It took crompton until georgia in 09. Our scheme does work, but we are making small Dooley era mistakes. They're a lot less, but Butch can only do so much so quickly.

You have your measurable approach as which to determine your satisfaction, I was trying to relate the OBSERVATIONS THAT I WITNESSED TONIGHT IN THE STADIUM, I saw the huddles on the sideline abd the ensuing results. All positive, no. But Mostly, yes. We are four games into the season step off the ledge and just observe.

Butch's first season at Cincy was 4-8.

Miles went 4-7 his first season at Okie st.

Petrino went 5-7 first season at Arkansas.

Carroll went 6-6 first season at USC

Harbaugh went 4-8 first season at Stanford

Paterno went 5-5 first season at Penn St.

Majors struggled for several years.

Briles went 4-8 first season at Baylor

etc, etc

Many coaches have rough starts.

Unfortunately I only caught part of the Auburn-LSU game. IMO, LSU is the sleeping giant this year. They have a great D and the most balanced O they've had in a long time.

I really do hope you are right. I have tried to see it... I just don't.

Are you saying they didn't win national championships and even may have struggled in the first few years because they didn't have the players they needed? Who would of thunk it? :lolabove: not making fun at you but above.

That.... doesn't help.

... and 3-8 the year before preceded by two 5-6 seasons.

Petrino went 5-7 first season at Arkansas.
How much do you know about Nutt's tenure and end at Arkansas?

Carroll went 6-6 first season at USC
And 5-7 the year before.

Harbaugh went 4-8 first season at Stanford
1-11 the year before.

Paterno went 5-5 first season at Penn St.
You got one... they were 5-5 the year prior too.

Majors struggled for several years.
Took over the program at another historic low spot... but had already won a NC and coached a Heisman winner.

Briles went 4-8 first season at Baylor
3-9 the year before.

Sumlin, Freeze, Mullin, MeyerX4, SabanX2, Richt, Swinney, J Fisher, SpurrierX2, Fulmer, Hoke, and numerous others.

Generally speaking, coaches who replace coaches worse than themselves... impact winning right away.

Many coaches have rough starts.
Only a few that become successful later start out by taking a step back from the coach they replaced.

You clearly aren't comprehending. UT is coming off it's worst point in decades and there is clearly a lack of talent, whether you admit it or not. If all you're looking for is ONE more win, we're only 4 games in the season, so that makes your entire argument pointless. Much like all of your other arguments.

Is this a troll? I think it's far too early to say whether Butch is going to have some grand success here, but do you really believe he is a step BACK from Derek Dooley?

How much do you know about Nutt's tenure and end at Arkansas?

Oh, so Petrino inherited a really rough situation with a coach that left him with a decided lack of depth.

And they won 5 games. That would be a step back from the 8 the year before.

I'm not sure how you're getting Auburn is worse than us. To me that game is a pick'em, and given our recent history, I'm not sure playing at Neyland is much of an advantage.
