I just saw a tight shot of Tebow...

There's a difference between annoyed and offended. Whatever they're spouting isn't important enough to me to result in me being offended.

You don't have a right not to be annoyed either. That's the tough part of living in a free society... people have a right to annoy us up to the tip of our nose... which is where their rights end and ours begin.

How is it offensive to display John 3:16?
I didn't say it is. I'm saying the over the top, in your face nature of the whole of Tebow's Christianity is likely offensive to those uninterested in Christianity or Christian things.

I have every right on earth to be annoyed. To suggest otherwise is just silly.

Why is that over the top at all? Did people from other area codes spout venom when Reggie Bush wore it under his eyes? This has nothing to do with Tebow...

So we do have the right, or we dont? I'm not following your contradictions very well.

that's exactly the message I'm talking about being offensive. You're gonna burn in hell to someone who has thought it through is just senseless.

Read the NT and especially the gospels. What the poster wrote was much softer than what Jesus and the Apostles said. You might be offended by thoughts of punishment and wrath but they are essential to the NT gospel. Modern America's "positive", self-help style of "Christian gospel" bear very little resemblance to the NT religion.

I'm talking about the whole media personality that is Tebow, not just the eye black.

But those are not the people he is wanting to reach. If they are already completely turned off there is not a thing someone can do about it.

I'm not freaking offended by the message. I'm saying that many not in the fold find it offensive and use it to belittle the Christian cause. Why not find a new freaking tack.

And it is offensive to me as a Christian to hear the other side...

Either way someone is getting offended.
but the other side isn't trying to convert you. They're apathetic to your eternal fate. You're after them because you were told to be. Why not find an effective way to do it?

Not to keep quoting you but....

What other tactics would be effective at spreading the gospel of Christ?

So its how to media portrays him that makes you mad at Tebow?
I'm not mad at Tebow. I'm simply surmising about how I believe the non-Christian world perceives him and the media coverage of him.

He's clearly a great example and a great football player, but the overhype is destroying his effectiveness, IMO.

You have a right to speak your mind in the public forum... express your viewpoint and try to convince others. You don't have a right to violate someone else's rights in the process. At the same time, we don't have a right to shut people up just because we don't like what they have to say.

Jehovah's Witnesses annoy me. Politicians who knock on the door annoy me. Eugenie Scott annoys me. Obermann annoys me... but they have a right to express themselves. On my property, I also have a right to tell them to get lost.

who has been told to shut up? who is having rights violated? you told us that we don't have the right to be annoyed. we took umbrage with that comment.

I like the door to door politicians. Gives me some one-on-one face time on my turf to ask some tough questions. I've changed my vote for a district seat vote based on the guy spending 10 minutes at my house.
