I like Bob (duck and cover)

I think Bob is great at calling basketball. The thing that drives me insane though with football is he doesn’t provide score or time on clock updates nearly enough for someone depending on him to provide as much detail as possible.

Accurate. He just fails to regularly update those details. I had to leave early to pick up my kid and was listening once I got in the car and I felt lost for a while wondering how much time was left and where on the field they were. We were spoiled for a long time so our expectations may have been too high at first, but it's been nearly 25 years. I get some info from Pat's real time reaction and know something is happening, before Bob says it. Having said that, he's a first class guy that works hard and has for many, many years. I don't dislike him and I hate that he gets so much grief, but some criticism isn't unwarranted.

Because he's not particularly good at his job and Tennessee deserves a better audio representative of the action on the field. Tennessee is working to turn this back into an elite football program. It's time our radio announcing becomes elite again too. We're ready for some new blood on the radio!
Are you the leader of this coup?

Based on the comments I see on this form, I'm about to lose my VN card...

I don't understand the hate directed at Kesling. I think he calls a good game and I like Pat adding color in the booth.

I heard a compilation of TD calls from the AL game. His calls were clear and I heard excitement. I'm a fan.

Go VOLS!
Calls a better game w JH as coach. Not enough time between plays to talk…ha

Kessling doesn’t do a good job describing what’s going on… at all.
I've seen this comment several times in this thread. Next time I'll be listening for time on clock and position on field. I've just not noticed the omissions in the past.

He’s extremely boring. Loved listening to Ward who was artistic with his words. Boring Bob seems Like he’s trying to lull everyone to sleep.

So who do you like that calls college football games? Give me a team and name. I'd like to hear what others like. Don't give me Mike Keith. I know I don't like his style (saaaaaaaack!)
Bob never ever called a college game before he called his first college game.

Watching some Highlights of TNs past games and during one game bumbling Bob said the following....

"TN has had three trips to the red zone so far and came away with a Touchdown and two extra points ".

Umm..what's wrong with that statement? Bob is a fool

(I'll attempt to find the game and link it)

The last announcer that was worth a crap was George Mooney. All the others are just stooges. Anyone heard Pat Ryan? He’s just above drooling.

You trying to stoke a fire by implying Ward was a stooge?

Even if you didn't care for Ward, it's impossible and asinine to lump him in the same category as Bumbling Bob "Cheggardboard" Kesling

Agreed on the clear part....Bob has a very broadcast friendly voice. However, IMO his voice would be barely discernable to an uninitiated listener to some midwest broadcaster. I do believe he bleeds orange and is a VFL...but his non distinctive delivery makes it difficult to feel like he is one of ours.

Again, just my opinion, but he should have went the tv broadcaster route. He could easily sound impartial since that is his default setting.

Anyhow...i just dont listen to the broadcast anymore but unlike so many, i dont feel the need to hate on him.

I disagree with your post somewhat but gave ya a like. I too no longer really listen to radio calls. Unless it's overlayed on YouTube highlights, I don't hear it.

But I don't listen to radio , even in the car, simply because Bob is awful. I'll have my wife give me updates off gamecast if I'm driving.

I have hope that Danny White has a plan to try and get a better announcer in the booth. 23 years is too long to put up with something so far below mediocrity . It doesn't fall under his jurisdiction, but he has some pull.

Wish I had a dollar for every " check that"
Seems like at least once a game Bob will get Jalin Hyatt and Jaylen Wright’s names mixed up. He did it on the CJH show the other day too. I know it’s nitpicking, but I can’t help but notice when he gets names all mixed up or butchered. I wish Tim Priest could be on some of the games this year. He would really enjoy it. He got stuck calling a bunch of bad football his years on there. I enjoyed how his filter wouldn’t always kick on quick enough sometimes when a really good or bad play happened.
