Cool, you have your view and I have mine. (Though Im not sure where they bite marks factor into self defense, and I’d also just get out of the house if a woman was kicking me) In any event, I’ve been told I won’t be missed so it’s really not a big deal if I have a problem with it. It will never happen so it’s really a waste of time discussing it further.I'm exactly sure I just said dropped charges didn't necessarily mean he was innocent.
"Wasn't much doubt"...apparently there was enough doubt that they didn't believe they could convince a jury he was guilty.
They almost always charge someone in a domestic situation like that because of how the laws are. Many, many times they end up getting dropped.
I will say I find it hard to believe he just up and decided he was going to try and strangle his wife to death.
His story is she was the aggressor and striking him, so he tried to restrain he by her wrists and she tried kicking him in the balls.
If this is true ( and it could be, we weren't there), it could explain a lot in regards. I have personally seen women attack men and then call the police on them and say they attacked them.
If a woman is attacking me and trying to kick me in the balls, it's possible I might have to "lay a hand on her" to get her to stop.
If I had to do that it wouldn't mean I was necessarily in the wrong/an abuser.
But again, I ( we) wasn't there to know the 100% truth of the situation. I hate to think tho if his story was true and something like that happened to me, that there would be people treating me as a a convicted felon and calling me a 'woman beater". Let alone lobbying for me to not get a job.
All good. You certainly titled to your opinion.Cool, you have your view and I have mine. I’m not with those on here wanting a Pearl/UT reunion by any means (I’m just fine with him staying at Auburn lol), but your post makes no sense. Not only DID he come close (Elite 8, one basket shy of Final 4, I would argue is pretty close), he’s also the only coach to get us that close to begin with.He had 6 years here and never came close.
Join me on the Gerlufsen or McCollum train.Danny White will hire a young up and comer whose teams score points. How do I know this? Because that's what Danny White does.
Then our fans will bitch and moan because we didn't hire someone who is "proven," as if that equates to being the best hire for Tennessee, because most are ignorant. Then the hire will succeed. Because, again, Danny White.
Oh I like McCollum a lot. The only part of his profile that doesn't fit the DW model is that he's not a high scoring coach. His teams seem more defensive oriented (which I'm fine with). But his national championships at SD State are impressive and fit the DW profile. Wouldn't be mad at Gerlufsen, either.Join me on the Gerlufsen or McCollum train.
McCollum may be a tougher pull since he’s from Iowa, may not want to live home.
I almost included McDermott on my initial list, but at age 60, does he want to move into a meat grinder conference like the SEC in an area of the country he's never lived, much less coached?McDermott does seem like a good fit and Smart as well.
Looks like to me you only watch SEC ball. You know there are other coaches out there other than SEC guys.We should go get Chris Beard, Ole Miss's coach and make him turn us down. If he won't come, then other good options would be (in order of preference):
1. Mark Byington from Vandy
2. T.J. Otzelberger from Iowa State
3. Chris Jans from Miss. State
4. Patrick Kelsey from Louisville
6. Mike White from Georgia
We can outbid any of those schools. We have better facilities and a better chance of success and a higher ceiling as a program than any of them as well.
Thoughts?
My guess is that it’ll be nobody we can think of. See DWs track record. He goes all in on making someone unknown the next big thing.
Maybe you should let Rick know.In 1997, while coaching the New Jersey Nets, Calipari directed profanities at Star-Ledger sports reporter Dan Garcia and referred to him as a "Mexican idiot"
He got sued for 5mil.
He said that Camby, who had problems with academics, had turned it all around and made the “Athletic Director’s Academic Dean’s List.” this is completely made up and doesn't even exist.
Gets UMass on a NCAA violation and bolts before it is enforced. Knew the probation was coming and wins forfeited.
The Derek Rose issue at Memphis. Got him accepted into Memphis knowing someone else took his ACT.
The statement about all coaches knowing what goes on around their campus, but trying to deny knowing about Camby and Rose and all the other issues.
Plus he acts like a goon on the sideline.
So yeah, he is kinda classless.
Easy, Turbo. I wasn’t implying anything. I’m guessing he will be. But nobody knows the future. Barnes might coach till he’s 80.Exactly why would you insert this nugget of extreme speculation into an already charged discussion? Wasn’t Danny White recently extended with a raise making him the highest paid AD in the SEC?
As an attorney, the charges being dismissed are great for him in the justice system. But it absolutely can be used by employers to determine someone’s character and whether or not they are fit to be employed.I'm not saying I want Chris Beard as a coach, but those charges were dropped. It's similar to the Flordia coach situation, if the case against someone is dropped or can't be proved I don't know what gives anyone the right to necessarily deem someone guilty.
That doesn't necessarily mean they are innocent, just that they get the benefit of the doubt because we weren't there to know the necessary truth of the matter.
Yes, he stated that position clearly on the K. Caldwell hire. He likes offense in all sports. And odds are it will probably not be a long time proven coach when the time comes. A lot of LV fans moaned and groaned over Caldwell but looks like DW knew what he was doing.Danny White will hire a young up and comer whose teams score points. How do I know this? Because that's what Danny White does.
