If SMU gets booted from the playoffs,

There is a team out there that just won their conference championship. It has only 1 loss to a top 5 team. The committee needs to do the patriotic thing and put Army at #12. If not they are a bunch of commies.

It’s because I’m capable of not throwing a tantrum like a 4 year old over a team I hate. It’s less about Bama and more about SMU. They’re a joke and would be fighting to be .500 in our conference. I would be arguing for anyone on that bubble position in the SEC right now over SMU. Ole miss, Bama, SC would all beat them by 21 right now.
How do you know which version of which team would show up? Did you see Bama getting beat by Vandy or getting blown out by Oklahoma? Did you see Ole Miss getting beat by Kentucky at home? SMU lost 2 games to ranked teams, both by a fg and one was their conference championship game. They should get in over a team that couldn’t score a TD on a .500 team two weeks ago.

Clemson getting in and having a first round bye with 3 losses in a weak conference just by beating a joke of a team is ridiculous.
Glad of it knocks Bama out but Clemson should not be in the playoffs
I doubt we’ll get rid of the automatic bids to conference champs but I do see them eliminating the automatic seedings. The most desirable seeding is the #5 spot. Sure it’s an extra game but it’s a home game against the weakest team in the field and your second game will most likely be against the second weakest team (although you could argue Indiana is one of the weakest). I’m thinking they will go to a 16 team field and eliminate byes.

Didn't the committee say the championships game wouldn't penalize the teams in the playoff? How do you penalize a runner up in the ACC when Bama lost 3 games and got embarrased by OU recently. I don't give a **** about the strength of the conference. ACC is still a power 4 conference and the second place team deserves to be in the playoffs with 11 wins. BUCK FAMA!!! SMU showed everyone they deserve to have a shot! They lost on a 50 plus FG to a very good and underrated Clemson team. Don't count out Dabo either. Clemson is a solid team!
Wanted to post the conversation for those who didn't see it.

So, how is the College Football Playoff Committee viewing the losing teams in those conference championship games? ESPN's College GameDay host Rece Davis asked CFP Committee chair Warde Manuel if those losing teams will be evaluated similar to the rest of the "at-large pool" that includes teams not playing in a conference title game.

"Probably fair to say that, yeah," Manuel said. "We don't look at it as an at-large pool, but we will evaluate the teams and how they play. Again, Rece, this is something that has been done every year in the final week we've evaluated teams. Teams can move up and down, but what you won't see is teams who are not playing move above or below other teams who are not playing."

BYU “ranked team”. I’m not taking the time to post it all but they played some laughable teams and BARELY got by them. Personally, I believe they will get in. Penalizing for a conference champ loss goes against the agenda they’ve already pushed. By doing this they aren’t getting the 12 “best” teams is my argument. If it wasn’t a team you hated you would be able to be logical instead of emotional. As I said Bama, SC, Ole Miss are all better than SMU. It’s not even close.

And we thought expanding the playoffs would solve problems.

I say we go back to bowl games across the board. Why does there need to be a “champion”? Football isn’t basketball or baseball. I’m sure I’m in the minority here, but I believe this mindset causes more problems than solutions.

There’s been a gentleman’s handshake for the BIG 10 and SEC to have the same amount of teams. Bama is in until I see it different tonight.

But that’s almost like saying the playoffs should be the BIG 10 and SEC only. It pretty much guarantees Bama is in each year regardless of record.

If you thougt expanding the playoffs would do anything other than exaggerate the problem by 3-4x, you're terrible at math. Hopefully everyone saw this coming. Whoever does Vol scheduling needs 100% of our OOC games to be D2s. The BCS was the correct solution. Nothing will be perfect, but that was as good as it could get, and way better than this.

You can think what you want and try to act like you’re in everybody’s head, but Bama shouldn’t be in.

I agree. The bowl season was fun.

It’s not about bama for me. It’s about the 12 best getting in for me. That’s what a playoff should be. The best. If that ends up being all SEC and Big10 then so be it.

SMU is a 4-5 loss team in the SEC. Great story but the records aren’t equal. Bama and South Carolina are better teams. Argue for Ole Miss is debatable.

So we can agree that based on your emotional way of shuffling through life, bama shouldn’t be in, but also agree that SMU is definitely not a top 12 team? This is all about Bama for you and not about the “12 best”. What do you think happens if SMU plays ole miss or SC right now?

I’m all for better football and bracket format of better games to determine it.

On my way of “shuffling through life”, are you everybody’s keeper? SMU as of right now is a Top 12 imo. Idk what happens if they play eachother and neither do you, but SMU didn’t get blown out by anybody and had no terrible losses. They played the hand they were dealt.

There’s no way you believe that. They didn’t play anyone capable of blowing them out. Bama aside, there are multiple teams better than SMU with 2-3 losses. Primarily SEC teams. Your argument on the schedule is saying “teams should just schedule as lightly as possible” and end of season claim “we won, we played the cards we were dealt”. They are a great Cinderella story if you’re into fairytales, but in no world are they 1 of the 12th best in the nation.
