What other schools have even contacted Byrd? He's been at Belmont longer than most of the posters on this boards been alive.

Which would be the MOST retarded thing that could happen to us right now. We need someone here on campus to be contacting recruits and getting ready for the season. It's different if he were to go to another pro team, they would be ok with that. We aren't in a position to do that.

No, not trying to turn this into a Pearl love board...just pointing out your prior comments that Pearl wasnt the only coach in America....and we needed someone to take us to the next level.

I actually felt like they should have fired Pearl earlier...but I am sane enough to know that replacing him wouldnt be as easy as you think.

Frank could put a staff in place and contact recruits. I'd be for doing that any day over hiring Rick Byrd.

I've never said anything about taking us to the next level. I did say, and still believe, that Bruce Pearl isn't the only person that can win at Tennessee. If you don't, good for you.

Pretty sure he wont be coaching 24/7. Wouldn't it be sweet to get a call from a coach that's in the playoffs asking you if your interested in coming to UT? Not to mention he could assemble a staff to start recruiting for him. I think it would be hard to name Frank coach with Boston in the playoffs.

No hard proof but I'm willing to bet others have contacted him the last few years. He has stated Tennessee is about the only job he would be interested in leaving Belmont. He loves Tennessee. He seems like the type to keep that in house and not public and not the type to use others schools contacting him to leverage Belmont like many coaches do.

When would he have time to interview anyone?? Who is this staff that he could just magically put into place?? It's just not that easy for him to do, and I don't 100% that Doc would allow him the time to do so.

Dreaming........Frank isnt coming here. Even if he was truly interested there is no way UT could wait till the end of his season with Boston. To much could happen, Doc Rivers could fall over dead with a heart attack and Boston could offer Frank the job. Where would that leave us. Now go make a "I was wrong...and I want CBP back" thread.

LawVol has it figured out....you see Dane Bradshaw could be one of his assistants and he could take care of all that for Frank.

Doc has already stated he don't mind what his assistants do on their own time as long as it doesn't mess with the overall operations of their team.

Yeah...Doc doesnt mind if Lawrence takes his focus off of winning a World Championship so Podunk UT has a basketball coach. WRONG!!!

If it's that easy, then sign him up. Something tells me that it's not, and the administration wouldn't even be remotely close to OK with him just conducting phone interviews for staff and recruiting while in the playoffs. Something tells me that Doc Rivers would go upside his head if he tried to do all that, while working for him.
