So, using this logic, if the Lovie Smith or Jon Gruden rumors would have come to fruition, you don't think they could have used their NFL history as an advantage in recruiting?

Yeah...Doc doesnt mind if Lawrence takes his focus off of winning a World Championship so Podunk UT has a basketball coach. WRONG!!!
Wait...really?
If it's that easy, then sign him up. Something tells me that it's not, and the administration wouldn't even be remotely close to OK with him just conducting phone interviews for staff and recruiting while in the playoffs. Something tells me that Doc Rivers would go upside his head if he tried to do all that, while working for him.
Yeah, Tom Thibodeau didn't have time to do ANYTHING last year during the playoffs. What ended up happening to him, anyway?
Yes....I think they should have fired Pearl once they found out he lied. The comment about creating a thread entitled "I want Bruce Pearl back" was directed at LawVol who for years has insinuated/stated that we needed to dump Pearl and get a big name coach to take us to the next level.
"Just like [current Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau] last year, we allowed him to do his job with us, which he did and did phenomenally by the way, and still get interviews, which is great. I'm a big believer in that. I don't think you should ever stand in the way of anyone if they're going to be able to better themselves. You just don't do that. I know it's done around the league... but I don't believe that. I think you can do an interview and still do your job. So if it came to that, it would be great for him."
Hmm... Do you read?

It's a pro team to a pro team. When do they ever recruit for a system?? They are getting the best players that college and the world have to offer. It's not even close to a comparison you can use.
Oh definitely....because a contract stops anyone from taking another job especially one where they can almost triple your salary. NOT>
It's different when it's you, who are interviewing for the job at hand, versus trying to put together a staff, recruiting board, setup visits, setup trips, make plans to kiss the brass's ass. It's completely different, and Doc just said he could interview, not conduct them.
