If we go 8-4 this season...

It will be inline with my expectations, which were 9-3, but 8-4 could happen. If so, it will be considered a bad year for Heupel, and rightfully so.

Vs. the previous years all the way back to 2007, all 15 of them, when our best records were back to back 8-4 years under Butch Jones. That was the BEST we could do. Now 8-4 seems very disappointing.

That's a big difference, and I will take it. I didn't expect us to go 11-1 this year, and 9-3 is still very much possible.

Team has to play better, but...for whatever reason, we rarely play well in the Swamp.

On to the next game....
8-4 is neither good nor bad. It’s clear we aren’t as good in certain positions.

Great, level headed post! Glad to see one for a change. Regardless of the reactionary idiots, we are still far ahead of expectations in year 3 of a rebuild from disaster. Many of our fans are just too stupid and reactionary to get it.

Losing half of your offense to the nfl and your OC and a lot of studs on defense, 8-4 doesn’t seem like a complete failure.
Well, when you put it like that 😂.. but now they need to correct what they can and make it work to the best of everyone’s ability… starting with effort and attitude and not waiting to show some fire until the third quarter to rally from behind or when you want to street fight when you lost..that is what kills me 😂

People on here are so ready to say so matter of fact what we will or won’t do the rest of the year. Kneejerk extremes, can we lose a game without someone holler lockeroom issues. Yes everyone has locker room issues but they aren’t normally near as bad as people make it. After the South Carolina game same thing, folks said we wouldn’t be Vandy. Then they said we wouldn’t be Clemson. Games take funny turns teams have bad nights. That doesn’t mean it will stay that way. Folks just seem to go all extreme anymore. We got things to work on but that doesn’t mean we are in the tank. Some just want to pile on anything negative, and all that BS talk doesn’t do anybody no good. Get behind the team and voice legit concerns, heck I do that myself. But for the I am not watching and the we are doomed crowd, and the we have lockeroom issues crowd. Just quit watching and find something else to occupy your time. Of course the trolls will keep on till we win and look good then you won’t see or hear them. But the first time we lose the crawl out of the woodwork. Must be a sad life. GBO

. If Mays don't play vs USCe we lose because I've seen nothing that says we can stop Rattler and we will need to outscore them in a O high score game. I figure if Mays don't come back by USCe he should just Medical RS. He needs more playing time to translate to NFL IMO.
2020 was the Covid year, he can come back next year regardless of whether he takes a redshirt this year.

I'm still thinking 9-3, hoping for 10-2, and praying on 11-1, lol. I doubt my prayers will be answered, for a football game, there are definitely more important things out there! I'll be at the game this Saturday, driving in from IL, GO VOLS!

I thought it would be better than 8 and 4 but I thought the secondary would be improved with new players. Little did I know we’d be playing nearly all of the problem DB’s from last year. I also didn’t realize the O line would be as bad an issue as it is. Thought the transfers could handle it but the absence of Mays is major. Combine those two key position groups with problems and it’s an issue we (and I’m sure the coaches) didn’t count on.

8-4 is fine.

BUT I’d prefer a World/intergalactic Championship this year. Like this…
Win out in such a violent, overwhelming manner that the NFL requests our presents in the playoffs. They’ve bent the rule this one time so that we can play in the playoffs and we defeat all the teams and win the NFL championship this year.

Aliens from the other side of Mars arrive at the Super Bowl during the Lombardi trophy presentation to request our presents on their planet to play their champion.

I think I need a spellchecker. Probably need to put the pretend crack pipe down too.

I think 8-4 with what we have seen thus far would be amazing.

I think the “psychology” of it with the fan base was a real strong desire to see a follow up to last year’s 11 win season with a 10 win season this year . . . To prove UT is “back” and last year was not a one off.

8-4 (and I think the Vols more likely end up at 7-5) shows that the program is still in rebuild mode and will be for a few more years.

The bottom line is this: UT does not have the talent needed on the LOS to produce 10 plus win seasons . . . And if that is not fixed either through the transfer portal or development . . . Next year will be a repeat.

Unless something major changes with this team 8-4 would be a miracle.....IMO we are starring at 7-5 with 6-6 not out of the question. Things could change but right now that's where I am.

Team on offense looks just like it did with Milton against Pitt. It’s very off and not smooth at all.

Those that are swearing by their predictions of 7-5 or 8-4, will also swear that the VOLS were gonna do better when we do. All I want is a little less LOTM each week till they are back in hibernation.

Looking back at the past 20 years, I am not surprised by the drop. Last year wasn't a fluke, but was certainly beyond most expectations of a program that has been average to worse over the previous 2 decades. Unfortunately, and a ton of people don't want to hear this, it takes time to build a consistent winner from the depths.

I think that the players may have bought into how far they thought the program had come in this last game. Get full of yourself and someone (Florida) will be happy to put you in your place. Coaches "didn't prepare the team" is BS, IMO. Coaches know what it takes to win, especially these coaches. Players, on the other hand, have to go out and make plays.

Pruitt, Jones, Dooley, Kiffin and even late years Fulmer didn't leave a legacy of excellence. JH is building one, but there are/will be setbacks and this year may be one of them. Savor the wins, look to learn and get better from the losses and hit the next game hard. Championships will come. I believe it.

Wow....I will take 8-4 and run.... We are rebuilding in the top 25......

I'm less concerned about the record than I wan watching good football. I want to see a VOLS team play a complete well -disciplined game. Minimum penalties. Looking in control.

AP and FL were extremely frustrating to watch. I can handle a loss if VOLS play well. Wins will come.
