If we go 8-4 but get Nico a lot of valuable playing time I could consider it a success… depending on who the other three losses come against. It will be inline with my expectations, which were 9-3, but 8-4 could happen. If so, it will be considered a bad year for Heupel, and rightfully so.
Vs. the previous years all the way back to 2007, all 15 of them, when our best records were back to back 8-4 years under Butch Jones. That was the BEST we could do. Now 8-4 seems very disappointing.
That's a big difference, and I will take it. I didn't expect us to go 11-1 this year, and 9-3 is still very much possible.
Team has to play better, but...for whatever reason, we rarely play well in the Swamp.
On to the next game....
O Line hurt by both Mays and Mincey being out vs. Florida, but it sure doesn't seem to have any depth at a min. Hopefully if we get those two back it will improve.I thought it would be better than 8 and 4 but I thought the secondary would be improved with new players. Little did I know we’d be playing nearly all of the problem DB’s from last year. I also didn’t realize the O line would be as bad an issue as it is. Thought the transfers could handle it but the absence of Mays is major. Combine those two key position groups with problems and it’s an issue we (and I’m sure the coaches) didn’t count on.
8-4 is fine.
BUT I’d prefer a World/intergalactic Championship this year. Like this…
Win out in such a violent, overwhelming manner that the NFL requests our presents in the playoffs. They’ve bent the rule this one time so that we can play in the playoffs and we defeat all the teams and win the NFL championship this year.
Aliens from the other side of Mars arrive at the Super Bowl during the Lombardi trophy presentation to request our presents on their planet to play their champion.
I think I need a spellchecker. Probably need to put the pretend crack pipe down too.

But if Heupel continues to trot Milton out there all season just for him to put up average numbers (which is exactly what I expect out of Milton) imo.
I don’t know how anybody could argue with that. If we’re going to just be average this year, we need to at least get better for the future.
*intense and porpoisesFace it, this is by all intents and purposes a "bridge" year between losing Hooker and Nico becoming our QB1. I think we all were hoping that CJH could develop Milton into something more than what we all thought he was but, alas he just kind of is what he is. We will probably win 7 or 8 games this season, go to a bowl game, and that'll be it with hopes for a better season next year with Nico behind center.
Oh and for those who think 8-4 or 7-5 would be "disastrous". Just remember that Brian Kelly went 4-8 at Notre Dame, after coming off a 10-3 season the year prior and his career there turned out ok. We have to play the long game here. We have the right guy. Just be patient and allow him to grow and figure it out.
Since we are going IFs.It will be inline with my expectations, which were 9-3, but 8-4 could happen. If so, it will be considered a bad year for Heupel, and rightfully so.
