iPhone

As long as your phone doesn't crap out where you would have to do a restore you got nothing to worry about.

Correct. Upgrading apps could do something to phone if you have "cracked" apps

I don't understand why it would affect anything regardless. If you upgrade a cracked app it's from the "cracked" repository where you got it from. You don't download a cracked version of biteSMS & then get an update from a legit source.

Ok, so checking the "via cydia" option in iSH**** worked and my blobs are backed up. However, after some reading, I'm not sure exactly what that does for me.

It doesn't appear you can downgrade an iphone 5 from 6.1.3 to 6.1.2, even with the blobs. So if I have to take my phone in for a repair, I would need a way to restore the 6.1.2 stock firmware. I guess it's not a big deal unless my phone needs repaired.

The other thing that bothers me now is with the addition of my new Ghost Armor, I'm going caseless. I haven't worried about it since I have the Apple Care, which offers a couple of replacements. But now, I'm afraid of breaking my phone and having to get a new one with 6.1.3 already installed. From some of the articles I read, it sounds like it could be awhile before a JB is released for 6.1.3, if at all.

I doubt you will see one with iOS 7 around the corner but who knows.

I enjoy my jailbreak but its not the end of the world if something goes wrong. I'm guessing Apple intentionally released updates back to back to back to back to make things this difficult.

Thoughts on apps:

Mailbox (by Orchestra) is the best email app out there and it isn't even close. My friend who helped design it is the son of one of Apple's higher-ups, so there's speculation that it will eventually become the default iOS email app and it absolutely should. It's new now, though, so only supports Gmail.

Sports Scores & Alerts >>>>> ESPN ScoreCenter. I hate the latter with a passion, but Sports Alerts does exactly what it claims to do and exactly what I want it to do.

Songza >>> Pandora.
SoundHound >>> Shazam.
Yahoo! Weather is the best (or at least the best free) weather app around.
Google Maps >>>>> Apple Maps (but everyone knows this)
Flipboard > Pulse for RSS readers or whatever they're called
Chrome > Safari
I also like Flickr slightly better than Instagram, but it's like preferring MySpace to Facebook--you can like it all you want, but the other one is the one that other people actually use.
GasBuddy is a must, but again, I think people know that.

Most addictive games: Robot Unicorn Attack 2 and Candy Crush Saga. I thought Candy Crush looked really stupid and still do, but once you start you can't stop. I close my eyes and see moving pieces of candy.

Finally, the new Google Search (or more specifically, the Google Now aspect) is pretty cool.

Don't care much for email or its at least not a big thing for me.

All of the espn apps suck except WatchESPN

Pandora is better if you're jailbroke

Yahoo weather isn't the best app at least not for viewing forecasts but its what the stock weather runs off of. If you're jailbroke it's what the tweaks & widgets use to update.

I haven't had any problems with Apple maps

I've tried to like chrome but can't. Safari is more user friendly

I use google as a web app instead of the actual app because anything you search is gonna be sent to a browser anyway. Maybe chrome could be used but its a pain to use.

If you just never use email, that's one thing. If you're like me and a lot of other people and just find checking email to be a chore because of all the junk and the sheer amount of emails in your inbox, that's specifically what Mailbox was made to address. One of my favorite apps.

Not sure what you mean by this. The new Yahoo Weather app has 12-hour and 5-day forecasts, as well as a time-of-day one (this evening, tonight, etc.), a weather map of your area, a precipitation grid, a wind/pressure chart and a sunrise/sunset chart as well. But if you're addressing its accuracy instead, that's a different discussion obviously.

I should also mention that all of the above apps are free. I don't think there are many paid apps that are worth the money, unless anyone has suggestions. (My phone isn't jailbroken.)

I have Chrome installed but only use it if I was on a PC and want to pull up something from there. I do like it better on the iPad though.

I've been using Rdio for music lately. I haven't ponied up for the subscription yet. Just keep starting new free trails with 10 min mail.

I'm a little late to the party but I've been hooked on Infity Blade 1 & 2 for the past month. At least on the iPad anyway.

Some other recent games of choice were endless runners pitfall, which I liked better than Temple Run, and Into the Dead.

There is a contest contest to be the one to download to 50 billionth(?) app. It's a $10k iTunes credit. So download away.

I installed an app yesterday called Trapster 5.0 where users can report speed traps, red light cameras and the app will warn you within a specified distance.

Seems like it has potential.

I've decided that I finally want to jailbreak my phone today. Can someone give me instructions like I'm a six year old

I don't use it as much as I probably should, but it is pretty cool.
