Yeah yeah yeah... and the Houthis are able to saturate our air defense systems. So are the Iraqi/Syria belligerents. So now what?

That is all they need and want. They are not trying to project power beyond their borders for self-defense. All they have is a Djibouti naval base.

And again, that just makes my point even more. China doesn't need a blue water navy because they are not trying to project power.

And besides, with missile technology and sea drone tech, naval power is quickly becoming a diminishing military asset. Take the US/UK operations against the Houthis as a contemporary example. Some goatherders with an irregular military force has essentially shut down Bab Al-mendeb/Red Sea. WTF will our same blue water navies do against a real military like Iran if they chose to shutdown the Strait of Hormuz?

Not a damn thing is the correct answer.

I've been hearing this nonsense my whole life about every war we have been in since Vietnam. Outside of using nukes, WTF more can the US do? Or, is nukes your final solution?
