Is Georgia really as good as people are giving them credit for?

Yes, they are as good as their #1 ranking indicates. But never in the history of college football (or any sport with polls) has #1 meant unbeatable.

1997 Nebraska was unbeatable.

That team was straight out nasty and would pound the ball down your throat.

Best college team I have ever seen. Those Osbourne teams made everyone look stupid.

Florida game wasn’t even really close . Our D for whatever reason just simply broke down there . Should have been at very least a 17 point win,
If not more. Our D has been pretty solid minus the Bama game an again, we were up 28-10 at one point whatever reason our D broke down yet again and took a Heisman QB to almost beat us.Stop the run and contain Bennett and we do that I feel like we go to Athens and play a complete game yet again. Vols take this one too.

they are very good. Their defense is underpinned by strong safety play. It is our toughest matchup, and we won't have lay-ups as we did against Bama. The offense is also very balanced and explosive. We will have to bring our A-game to have a chance.

Everybody keeps saying defending national champ that is true but that was last year don't mean sh+t this year. They are loaded with talent , talent can be defeated. Ga, is good but this year we are better, more battle tested and we r going to whip that ass for them

Georgia has 10 sacks this year, and their top pass rusher likely won’t play. We scored 17 off their all time great defense last year, and still left points on the field. We will score at least 30 on them this time.

The eye test for me says they are looooooadedddd.
Especially on defense. It's going to be a battle.

Tbh they haven't been tested yet. They can say that they were against Oregon and maybe Florida. But Oregon is in the pac 12 so that stat may be a bit skewed. And Florida is sporadic in how they play. If Georgia doesn't play thier best game on Saturday They're in trouble. I like that we are the underdog here. This team has played like they have a chip on thier shoulder and imo we need to keep that up.
Georgia has played no one yet. Georgia is the best team we've faced.
They are not undefeated if they had to play our schedule. OTOH, we would be the number team in the nation, averaging 60 points a game with their weak A schedule.
We should be a slight favorite imo. The fact that we are an underdog is a joke. I have a feeling we'll be the ones laughing Saturday night though...

Yes, but whatever you do don't tell them that. Trust in their ability to choke themselves in nearly any situation, and our ability to take advantage.

Unless one is just trying to bolster the idea that GA isn't invulnerable there's little to gain in trying to undermine what they've accomplished. The team is comprised of top ranked recruits, lost one game (AL) while winning last year's title and undefeated this year. Yes, they're that good.

Now having said the above it will make it all the more impressive if we can go to their house and win. And we are capable of just that if we bring our A game.

Let’s not do to UGA what everyone is doing to us. UGA is a damn fine team and definitely one of the best in the country this year, we are in for a dog fight between two excellent teams, and we have a good chance to come out the victor. No need to dump on UGA, if we beat them we beat an excellent team, nothing more nothing less.

They're defending national champions and they haven't lost yet. How much "credit" do they need? Yes, they're good and they've earned the right to claim themselves as the #1 team in the country until someone beats them, so let's beat them Saturday. Looking forward to a great game!

Georgia is a well rounded team. They match up pretty evenly with Tennessee if you remove Hooker and Hyatt from the equation.

Yes, they are that good. All the more reason, I want us to Bam-a them.

They are very good but they just out talent everyone they play. We have the talent on offense to do damage and defense is improving every week. We definitely have the superior coaching staff.

Not only do we always get Florida's best game, they have some voodoo curse on us. They could send in a high school QB with a blindfold on and he could just throw the ball downfield and never have an INT and get 4 or 5 TD passes. All the fumbles roll out of bounds before we get to them, All the tipped balls fall harmlessly to the turf, and our QB has his worst day(until Hooker and company came along that is), our defense is lost, our WR's drop wide open perfectly thrown passes, it's just usually a crap show..

And in the fla game as well as bama, we slowed the offensive game down when we got a lead, I hope that doesn't happen again.
Yep, we just can't play slow, though our run game has gotten better, the opposing defense just can't know we are running.

Please hear me out on this and my reasoning for asking the question that I have.

For SEC games, Georgia has played the #6 (Missouri), #10 (USCjr), #11t (Auburn & Florida), and #14 (Vanderbilt) defenses to get to their #3 offense rating at 43.1 Pts/Game average. They have also faced the #8 (USCjr), #9 (Florida), #10 (Vanderbilt), #11 (Missouri), #13 (Auburn) offenses to get to their #1 defense rating and 10.5 points against total.

I'm not saying that they are not good, just that I am not sure that they have been up against anything really challenging. For comparison sake, Tennessee has faced the #2(Alabama), #3(Kentucky), #5(LSU), and #11(Florida) defenses to get our #1 offence rating at 49.4 Pts/Game average. We have also faced #2(Alabama), #5(LSU), #9(Florida), and #11(Kentucky) offenses for our #4 defense rating and our 21 points against total.

Again, not saying that they are not good......just don't know if they are as great as everyone in the media are making them out to be. If we play like we have in the three SEC games (LSU, Alabama, and UK) we should be able to leave Athens at 9-0. Just my observations.

(Stats were from the Saturday Down South Offense and Defense charts)

Kirby's home record
Against ranked teams 7-0
Against top 10 teams 3-0.
