Is Pruitt unwilling to give an OC control?

Bob Shoop was universally praised on VN as a major home run. Not a dissenting voice in the house, mine included. That's what makes the biggest impression on me.

We don't have a CLUE who needs to fill this position.
Yeah, and he's done well everywhere but here....There's rumors of the staff not getting along or being on the same page... hence he's gone.

Urban is an offensive background guy.

Kiffin carries a play sheet, but he is calling the plays.

Can you find us a photo of Saban carrying a play sheet....?

Not Saban, but some other HCs carrying sheets (or iPads). 6F88DD14-E046-4F87-B785-5E252B311560.jpeg9375CCD5-F9C8-405F-A876-0F2E21916130.jpeg777215D2-19D9-4BC3-B281-E2112F92A319.jpeg3B3BF010-9531-40BF-B8B1-A3B7BFED6780.jpegA25C38E7-E14B-48BB-978A-66007BFEBCA9.jpeg

Yep. Is there any good thing that has not instantly turned to dung around here in the last 10 yrs? Weird. Players xfer out and end up in the NFL. Coaches like Shoop happen. Crappy coaching failures leave and all come back to spank us.

I still think it's the Rohan Davey curse!

Some pretty big assumptions in the OP, OP.

Like, CJP has offered the job to a lot of people.

Like, a lot of people have turned the job down.

What if, maybe, just maybe, Pruitt knew exactly who he wanted before Helton ever left, and Pruitt quietly asked that person, and that person agreed (but only after that person's current team's season is over), and it has all been settled all this time except for a delayed announcement and a mouth-breathing fan base?

I consider that scenario just as likely as any other offered on these boards over the past month.

So you think a very unlikely scenario has taken place over the most logical scenario even though yours has several fake interviews involved?

Ok.

Im a Marine, long story but I go for Navy Sports as a second team.

And speaking not on the behalf of the Secretary of the Navy, allow me to extend my sincere appreciation for 243 years of guarding the gates at U.S. Navy facilities (and never losing a single one); millions of times of announcing "The Captain is on/off the Bridge"; and countless hours of PT on the decks of the Gator Navy and Carriers while swabbies sat up on the bridge and sipped their 2nd cup of coffee.

We appreciate your support. There's nothing quite as comforting as a good athletic supporter.

Go Navy, and Go Vols.

Who’s left the program and excelled in the NFL?

Who are these “insiders”? I hope you are not referring to any of the Knoxville area media. How do we know Pruitt went after Freeze and how do we know someone above Pruitt said no? No one, outside of Pruitt, the UTAD, and those coaches who have spoken with Pruitt know the truth.

Not all Knoxville media. A month ago Doug Matthews says it’s 95% finished with the OC, but Basilio is laughing saying it’s not even remotely true. We know who was right.

None excelled that I know of. But, making a roster is a pretty big deal coming from the cesspool we've been lately. Thinking of the mighty Name Peterman and his 0.01 QBR at UF, then becoming an NFL starter. :-o

Any assertions made are based on educated speculation at best. In other words, you don’t know, I don’t know, Austen Price doesn’t know, Jimmy Hyams doesn’t know, Jayson Swain doesn’t know, Tony Basilio doesn’t know, Doug Matthews doesn’t know, NOBODY but Pruitt and Fulmer know what the heck is going on with this escapade. You can hypothesize all you want, it is what it is. It looks bad. But is it, who the heck the knows?

Is that the same Basilio who trashed our BBall coach for coming to collect a check while retiring for his first 2 seasons ... then has fallen strangely silent on the matter for the past 1.5 seasons? :-D Gotta love these guys.

And we kept the better guy in Dobbs. Pretty good decision.

I'm just saying it's all part of the Rohan Davey curse IMO. What's the 3rd QB that everybody fawned over back then? Drops out, shows up at Tiger High, balls out, and gets drafted iirc.

A lot of it has to do with the style offense Pruitt runs...Not many OC's have much experience running that style anymore...Almost everybody runs a spread or spread option style...That is the thing now...Very few teams run a I-formation style of offense anymore...A few do like Wisconsin but really not many others do...It's like trying to find a coach who can install a true wishbone offense now...Good luck finding one who can...There is a high school coach in Virginia who runs it but you will be hard pressed to find anyone else who does...So I feel that is what the problem is right now...Pruitt is having problems finding a coach who will run what he wants...It could be career suicide if he's not careful.

So did Dobbs. Just not seeing a curse here.

We have no idea what offense Pruitt runs...since he’s not an OC.

What does this even mean?

Fwiw, Butch played field position quite a bit. That's the main example I can think of as far as complimentary football goes.

It means you don’t run a hurry up with a defense that isn’t close to dominant...

Yurchich took a job at Ohio St ... it's pretty close to "home". Maybe that's got something to do with his case at least?
