Israel, "defending itself" may play out differently than some seem to envision.

Their penchant for talking is limited, and they tend to end conversations rather abruptly, and succinctly.

I can't pin point an extact time frame, but the last 20 years....... Israel hasn't been as gung ho as it had to be in the 60-80s.

Align with them in a heartbeat over anything? Or on what? If World War 3 broke out and they were being invaded by their neighbors? Okay.

If they illegally seize a vessel in international waters? No thanks. They aren't our kid or our colony. When they sh** the bed, we don't have to always change the sheets and cover for them.

I don't want to seem like I am trivializing the seizure of the vessel, in terms of Israel and their prosecution of terrorists, it was very tame and civil.

Nor should we universally condemn them for this act. It was a planned provocation. It was handled poorly to be sure but this was not a situation that is all Israel's fault.

Things rarely are all one party's fault. But they made the bad move and got caught holding the bag. And by "bag" I mean "body bag." Those folks on the ships, no matter their motivations, didn't kill anybody. Israel did.

I am not calling for any kind of aggression against Israel over this, but the world has a reason to be ticked.

I seriously doubt the IDF had any plans to kill anyone. A melee occurred and people died.

I would say the world should be ticked at the flotilla as well.

The fools on the flotilla were pawns in a bigger game. Netanyahu needs to realize he is not David Ben Gurion and needs to quit flexing Israel's muscles when it is not needed.

I wouldn't call them heroes, just activists. Like most activists, their intentions are not pure, but rather barbed. Doesn't change the events, though.

According to the language in the law posted earlier their boarding of these ships may not have been illegal since the stated mission was to ignore the blockade. You can ignore that all you want but it is in question, the issue of legality hasn't been resolved at this point.
