Any huh? Last year was ranked lower per rivals. 2011 was ranked even lower, 2010 had the same ranking as 2011. 2009 was lower than this years class. Is that enough or would you like more? You didn't even give your supporting information either. Like how that worked.

I'm not trying to knock him at all as I think he did a good job with Neal in particular, but I could have coached Lattimore.

Very true. I guess it was a weak point to make, but the fact still remains that our running backs looked better and performed at a much higher level than anyone expected.

So according to your theory Butch Jones should make more money than Kevin Sumlin? After all, he's coached longer. Or maybe a guy like Randy Edsall should make more than a Will Muschamp or Kevin Sumlin. I mean he's coached longer. You don't go straight down the line and pay according to years in the game. Ones worth to the organization has to come into play.

Kevin Sumlin has proven himself in a HUGE way. CJG has not done that. He is a decent position coach. His recruiting took a big hit this year IMO. It is what it is. I think CJG was paid accordingly. Just throwing more money at an average coach to retain him makes little to no sense to me. I love having former Vols on staff. Over paying them to consider the job is not good business.

Only one class that was clearly worse than this year. That's it.

Jabo did not seem to know about it. Maybe he was sold on UT and who the RB coach was did not matter. I do recall him saying CJG had been recruiting him for quite a while.

Also, Thig and the TE coach are lead recruiters in the Nashville area, not JG

Yeah...I'm sure a disasterous season along with a coaching change didn't have any impact. Trying to recruit without being able to say who the HC is gonna be or if he would even be their RB coach once the new coach was hired...I'm sure recruits never looked at that kind of stuff. You're writing it off quite easily, so I'm sure recruits just easily overlooked it. The cards were heavily stacked against Graham in recruiting during this coaching change. He held things together quite admirably IMO. Who else was out there helping us during the change? Why didn't these "more experienced coaches" who you claim "deserved" more money pull in more top flight recruits?

The Govols article didn't need to point out race at all. Now if they do hire a black coach will it be to satisfy the newspaper or to be the best coach for the running backs.
