JJJ and Julian going through draft process

Nothing about Phillips game this season says he’s ready for the NBA.!! IMO it would be a HUGE mistake for him to leave college. I love college basketball but I hate when kids get drafted off POTENTIAL!!
If a kid just averaged 8 points in college, struggled in the big games, and even would shy away in those games.
He needs to stay in college and develop, he’s not ready.
All he needs to do is have one good season at 15 ppg and he will be a top 10 pick in the draft.
He has crazy potential but until he figures out how to use his body and size against D1 competition he’s always gonna be a guy who gets ya 8 points a game off fast breaks and free throws.
They're all drafted on potential.

Same reason Drew Timme and Tshiebwe aren't lighting up draft boards.

Scouts look at measurables and try to predict how they'll perform at the next level. They could care less if they score an extra 7-8 points in college.

Ledlum is not “literally” one of the best players in America. An argument can be made that he is likely the 4th or 5th best player on just our roster. Let’s not get carried away. He’s a role player, not a star.
I am a reasonable man, but I think posters who incorrectly use the word “literally”, should be banned and possibly deported. Something that is subjective doesn’t qualify as “literally”. Although, I am literally better looking than my brothers. I made an exception there.

Subjectivity isn’t the litmus tests. The use of “literally” should occur in an instance where the figurative or metaphorical alternative could be perceived to be the intent. I “literally” fell out of my chair laughing is an example, as one could mean it either literally or figuratively. If there is no figurative or metaphorical alternative, there’s no need to say it whether it is subjective or objective. Recently I pointed out that Sadie misses the point “literally” every time. This is factual and objective, but could be perceived as a hyperbolic exaggeration if she weren’t so statistically perfect at being tone deaf, figuratively.

The problem is that the point you are making is factually incorrect.

Your take is that you are assuming like for like production for two guys moving from low major to high major vs a freshman in a high major program improving year over year within the same program, if he comes back.

So calling it the correct take when there really is no greater likelihood that it will happen is indeed bizarre.
He's got you on that one vols til I fall.

Maybe going pro has less to do about whether you're ready to start an NBA game and more to do with where you can best prepare for a professional career. Are you going to get closer to your goal by playing college ball or by playing G League? If you're grading second round it's a long shot either way. Not a lot of players move up the draft boards by returning to college, though Bone, Schofield, and Grant show that it can happen.

I thought you were referring to me tbh, but it didn’t bother me. He schooled me, but I still maintain I was correct about the specific post I was referring to. I’m here to be entertained, and it rarely disappoints. If that entertainment is at my expense, it makes little difference to me.

You’re definitely right that people use the term literally way too often.

My point is valid. Whether you think it is or not.

Ready for NBA? That question matters this much 🤏 to the NBA GM's that make draft decisions.

Do they have what it takes for our organization to turn them into a good NBA player? This question carries almost all the weight for NBA GM's.

So, no, your personal opinion about how it should work is not valid. There will be MULTIPLE players drafted in the 1st Round this draft that are mist certainly not ready for the NBA. Some of them will even develop into very good NBA players at some point. As a UT fan we would obviously rather them do that development while staying at UT another season. But to bury our head in the sand and act like it's a dumb decision for him like we know better than him about the draft process in ignorant.
