WHAT?!?!?! He still has to recruit against FL and Miami in state as well as every other university trying to get FL kids. They lost one conference game (though it was NC State by 1 point) and then to FL, so its not like that was a bad year. Remind me again who Gruden has beaten recently? Listen, I wanted him as much as anyone, but let's move on and find another option. If it's Fisher, Strong, Bobby P., Golden, etc. let's put some positive energy behind this and support our Vols.
Just got off the phone with my source and heard some interesting stuff. I can't name names but this is a trusted source with multiple connections to UT. Anyway, our four main candidates at the moment are Fisher, Strong, Golden, and Dabo Swinney. Fisher and Strong are both likely to interview at some point next week, although specific details are being kept tight lipped. Apparently, the boosters would rather have Strong but Hart is leaning towards Fisher. Golden is also likely to interview with Dave in the near future, but we are still waiting to hear back from Swinney's agent. Dabo is more of a wildcard candidate in case the other guys all turn us down, but apparently he and Hart know each other. Besides these four, the only other person being considered is Dana Holgorsen but he is a real longshot at this point.
One other interesting thing I was told...despite what some other people have said, there really is no friction between Hart and the boosters regarding the Gruden situation. Both parties agreed that Gruden's terms would be pretty much impossible to meet, so they all agreed to move on and look at other candidates. The one thing that might cause some friciton at this point is if Hart decides to go with Fisher, when most of the boosters want Charlie Strong.
WTF Hart, why not Patterson or Peterson????? He better not Dooley this hiring but from the looks of it he will.
Fisher is the most overrated pos we could get, talk about someone whos done less with more, we couldn't get a bigger waster of talent than him and he ain't gonna have all the florida talent to do it with here.
I'm not typically a negative poster but I just can't be positive about any candidate right now. We were told by several 'insiders' Gruden was a done deal. Like him or not, Gruden would've changed the entire culture at UT. Recruits would have loved us, the rest of the country would have respected us, and the fanbase could've told everybody who doubted us to f'ck off. Instead, we were made to look like idiots by Gruden's agent, the rest of the country is making fun of us (look around the internet ... we're the laughing stock of college football), and recruits are dropping like flies. I don't care if it was a pissing match between the AD and boosters. The truth is, NOBODY on this board knows. Nobody. Everybody I thought had inside information came up short. The people that predicted Gruden wasn't coming were wrong about most events. Even if it went down exactly like the 'insiders' say, the best case scenario is our AD is an incompetent idiot. It never should have gone on that long. He has done this fine university a huge disservice.
And I don't see ANY of the other available candidates that can stop that bleeding.
Yep, today I'm a negative poster. My apologies.
FYI VQ is saying Gundy will interview tomorrow. Probably declined because season wasn't over.
I haven't heard anything about Gundy being back on the table but I'll check with my source on it and get back to you. Again, not trolling here....I am just trying to get you guys the most accurate information I can from someone who has deep connections. There is a lot of misinformation on this board and I feel it my duty to set some things straight.
For those talking about Gundy, he's 7-5 this year and got beat by Baylor today. If Strong and Fisher suck so bad, why would we want Gundy? SMH. They have a booster with hugh money that likes Gundy, so he's not going anywhere.
So he's gonna call his sources, who in turn call their sources, who call their sources, so on, so on..

Ok guys, breaking news. I just got a text back from my source, who was just on the phone with his source. Apparently, Gundy is back on the table now after initially declining any interest in the job when Hart reached out to him. Gundy will be interviewed tomorrow, and Fisher on Monday. Also, he did confirm that Strong met with Hart yesterday and there may be a follow up interview next week if Strong is still interested.
