Just saw on espn...

The future of the job that he has now is not looking that bright so I don't believe this is worth debating, anyway.

Yeah, our future with Jones is so much better that we're getting coaches from all over to leave their programs and join ours.

Wait...not a single person has? Oh...

Tee, I can't believe you didn't do exactly what I wanted you to do.

The nerve of you putting your interests over the interests of anonymous message board posters on the internet.

You leave me no choice ... I'm going to have to anonymously complain about it on the internet.
Silly post. I could give my name and 99 percent of the members here wouldn't know me. That means nothing. I'm sure that I'm not the only member that's disappointed in Tee's decision.

ok...here's the breakdowN...you guys called for tee martin for last two weeks..we tried and he turned us down...i agree with chattavol420...he used us to get a raise and his wife more pub...she aint gonna make it and it hope we dont offer him in the future...i saw his videos at usc and look at the weight gain...he DOES NOT need to get an offer from us in the future....wife runs the household and we dont need that...hope T M is reading this
Agreed. We don't need him here anyway. But you can't blame him for playing the game to get more money. One more year with Kiffen and he is out in his azz with Kiffen too and both will be job searching

I'm not sure that Coach Jones has offered other coaches jobs other than Martin. Please give a list of the ones that turned UT down starting with Martin, the obvious one.

If all this is true, what was the trip to Knoxville about? Why even accept the invitation? Just say that he's happy at his present job and move on.

Maybe he wanted UT to give him a reason to take the job. I'm sure they didn't crunch numbers over the phone. In the end maybe UT just didn't have as much to offer. I'm not gonna take a job making less money & move my family over 2000 miles to do it when I'm happy where I'm at.

We're plucking our coaching staff from the unemployment line. You think USC assistants are dying to switch to Knoxville?

This post wasn't directed at you it was directed at everyone who thinks the world revolves around their desires. Everyone is disappointed about Tee's decision, but in the end he has to do what's best for him. We made him an offer and when all was said and done he was not ready to leave a secure position to a situation which he has no idea how it will turn out, it's time to move and focus on the future.

I've went back and fourth on the Tee situation all day today and although I don't blame Tee for staying at USC I do have a problem about how it was handled. I think Tee had let it be known to people in Knoxville whenever he got the chance he would come back in a heartbeat. I think Tee has friends in Knoxville that CBJ had communication with that told him if you reach out to him he will come. It appears Hinshaw was let go the same day Tee was offered the job which would have been the 8th I think. I obviously have no inside knowledge of exactly what went down but I think CBJ did everything he could to get Tee on the staff. From the outside looking in it looks like Tee knew he wasn't going to take the job before he ever got to Knoxville. That may not be true but that's how it looks. The financial part of the deal should have been hammered out on the phone before he ever came to Knoxville. He could have still walked away but there shouldn't have been any question about the financial side. Hell who knows what happened but I get the feeling CJB fully expected that they would be able to get a deal done. Wish it would have worked out but we still have Jay Graham.

If reports were right, Tee would have been paid more and it would have been much more after factoring in cost of living. Of course, Hubbs could be wrong.

Good post.

Negative thread. This should be deleted because it affects recruiting.

That could be said for every single thread. I think most people including prospects are smart enough to overlook the mindless drivel posted on message boards.

You still haven't answered my question, aside from copping out. What was it about this situation that required Tee Martin to come back?

Jones is bringing most of his assistants from Cinci. I don't believe it's because he couldn't hire anyone else. He has faith in the guys that know his system and worked for him at the former school. That happens frequently when a coach moves to another job.

"Former vol tee Martin declins offer by tn to join staff". I'm so pissed that he acted interested only to turn us down. What a $hitty thing to do to us. I hope he understands that if he ever shows up here again, many people (myself included) are going to make him feel as unwelcome as possible. Screw that guy and the pos he works for. They deserve each other.

Maybe the man was made a "lowball" offer by our Coach...don't judge til you know the back story....which I don't, by the way...:hi:

I'll say the same thing here that I said to some Cincinnati fans I know. They were talking about how much they all of a sudden hate Butch Jones. I told them I don't blame Butch for leaving. With fans so quick to hate you, why would you want them? Fans need to realize that these guys are not as fanatic as you want them to be. Sure, I have no doubt Tee is a Vol at heart, but he is also a father and coach. He has a great situation at USCw, he's been there a year, and he has a lot of kids who he recruited that are on that team. He can't please everybody. Quit whining and let the man do what is best for him. A lateral move needs more than an alma mater's pull. He has enough reasons to stay where he is. I will still support the guy. He gave us a NC and I've never seen him utter a bad word about UT. Good luck, Tee. With some fans like these, I can understand why you would rather stay where you are.

How many Tennessee assistants did Kiffin take to USC?

If I was going to "cop out", I wouldn't have bothered to post. I never said that he was required to come back. I only stated that we needed him now and he wasn't interested so I hope that a job here is never offered to him again. He had his chance to come back and obviously his job at USC is more attractive for some reason.

Tee Martin doesn't owe UT or the "fans" one dam thing! Its amazing people are bashing the dude when nobody even knows why it didn't work out. He and CBJ may have talked and agreed to disagree? Who knows? So what if didn't come because of his wife! Its none of your business! Hell, General Neyland could come back from the dead to coach and couldn't please some of you people!

That's right! USC has been getting 4 and 5* recruits for at least the last 10 or more years. Tee may have gotten a couple, but, let's not give him more credit than he needs to get. USC would still be getting an abundance of 4 and 5* recruits, if they had never heard of Tee Martin.
