I understand why the evasiveness is necessary for competitive reasons. But, as a person who follows these guys throughout the year (or career in the case of Cooper), I wish we could know a little more.

I don't buy that. I don't understand the reason he is like that. Media knows to not trust his injury comments. Fans are very quickly learning it (most should well understand it by now) that its a game he plays. So does anyone really think opponents don't know what he is doing??

He said last week that Mays would be a game time decision for Virginia BUT, Mays hasn't practiced since he had surgery almost a month ago. Hard to believe his injury comments.

I'm not one who really cares what he says about the injuries but hate to see others believe what he says or think there is a strategy to it. Just don't see the strategy part at all. Using comments to fool opponents went out the window many years ago. With the internet, the truth comes out very quickly.

and if media doesn't ask, many, many fans will complain about that. As soon as Hubbs posted people starting complaining because no details. How long is he out? What is the injury? When will he be back?

When reality is, it don't matter....

I think I am getting this year right but in 2004 Kevin Simon was lost for the year with a knee injury during the UF game. A back up named Omar Gaither stepped up exceeding expectations tremendously replacing Simon that season. Nobody saw that coming. He did have the luxury of playing next to Kevin Burnett. Obviously the teams are different but in some ways the same with highly touted LBs on the roster waiting for a shot.

I hate this. But if it was gonna happen, the timing of this allows for his replacement to get good reps in a warm up game before the swamp, and it gives him as much time as possibly to get healthy and grt back in this season.

Still wish it hadn’t happened. He was the transfer I was most excited about for this season

Omar was in third year at Tennessee and had played a lot of football to that point.

Agreed, that is why I said the teams were different (2004 and current team). I don't recall Gaither contributing that much prior to 2004.

He was a junior in 2004.

had 17 tackles as a freshman and 23 as a sophomore. Not starter numbers but enough to prepare him to replace Kevin and produce 92 tackles.

Comparison is Herring had 11 tackles last season. Now he has to step in.. and hopefully he is prepared to do so..

.aybe yes, maybe no. You know how tight lipped CJH is about injuries. He really doesn't tell anyone outside of the team the true status of anyone. Simple deflection is a good tactic.
