KIFFIN ONLY HAS TWO LOI's?! - Yeah, not really.

I don't know why people bother to listen to hat regarding coaches, he's wrong more often than any self proclaimed "expert" I've ever seen. Check this post for his past idenfications of great coaches and predictions of success. I mean, this is the same guy who said Pearl will "flame out" of UT after next year.

I am on the fence as to how Dooley will do, but if hat is negative about the guy, then I feel pretty good about our future.

Yes, I'm overwhelmed at this staff's ability to poach recruits from East Carolina and South Alabama.

Ok so let's buy into the theory that Hats right and really we need someone better. Hat nor anyone one on here can so jack poop about it. Ok game over.

X left on Monday 1/11/10 or Tuesday 1/12/10 and Dooley came on Friday 1/15/10.

X & O were recruiting at a UT/USC level for the past year. After he was announced as of now USC has pulled Ambles,Stanley, and Robey who were being recruited by X & O prior to leaving UT. They added Pullard, Henderson and Thomas to the class. Everyone else was commited to Carrol prior ro X & O arrival.

Dooley starts 3 or 4 days later. He sign Clark who he knew and was recruiting at La Tech. None of these other comittments were being recruited by Dooley - Stone, Rogers, Crump, Propst, Sapp, Nance, Neal, Rivera, Jackson, Loften, Hunter.

I do not know if he can coach but if the last 19 days are indication, he can recruit.

Who hired Fulmer? He's coaching again?

You know just as well as I do that you can't judge a coach on WIN-LOSS record alone, there are multiple other variables involved.
It wasn't but 14 months ago that we hired a coach with an even worse W-L record that most everyone felt great about, though that was barely mentioned, since he'd just came from (the NFL equivelent of La Tech) Oakland.

Beating Georgia is a pretty big deal. It will really appear so after Doofus loses four straight to them.

We are so lucky to have a clairvoyant on this site. Can you help me pick my lottery numbers, hat?

I think it's so hilarious the opinion you have of Kiffin. You have barely anything to go on, yet you think this dude is some wizard coach. Every mind in the country worth listening to can't figure out how this guy keeps getting jobs, yet you've already proclaimed him the next Pete Carroll.

There was a time when you said that the reputation we had under the "skoal patrol" was damaging our program, yet you yipped and yelled every time Kiffin blundered his way through another secondary violation.

It just doesn't make sense. I agree with you more often than not on most things. But when it comes to your stubborn opinion of certain coaches, I just cannot. You don't even allow any wiggle room to be wrong. How anyone can be so certain without having the necessary criteria for evaluation is completely baffling to me. You have absolutely no clue if Dooley will be successful here or not. None of us do.

Time will prove you wrong, my friend. Trust me. It will happen.

He got JuWan James and Jacques Smith back when they left. He also nailed down Justin Hunter and James Stone. Got the state of Georgia's best(and the nation's) 9th best RB to switch his commit from Mississippi State. Not bad for someone who only got 1 real weekend to have recruits on campus.

One can only imagine what the class would have looked like had the snow not ran off several key guys last weekend.

BTW, his keen insight in his coaching hires has said just as much to me as anything. After tomorrow, when Chuck Smith becomes our new DL coach, this years staff(with the exception of Monte) will arguably be as good as Kiff & Co.

Take the 8 out and UT's class would be lucky to be in the top 20. Keep buying the company line. It's much easier than actually thinking.

This is a total Bogus response, take the whole scenario away - old staff stays - and we walk away with maybe 2-3 we don't have now. The comment above does not take into consideration a normal staff staying from year to year,, or a standard change of guard such as at ND. Go back a year and Dooley and staff are here for a full year,,, no changes ,,,, projecting from a crystal ball is something anyone can do. If this easy let me know which stocks will do what Mr. Buffet.

We will only see the reality when next year rolls around.
Even Florida's class had a 2 star -- so did Bama. Number 9 and some finding fault is pathetic.

Is there some way you guys could take your off topic argument to the appropriate thread?

Having a healthy skepticism is fine, but saying you are skeptical all the time even in the face of facts that point the other direction, makes a cynic.

To the original topic of the thread, there's now way they are waiting until the end of the day to report all LOI's. They reported Seantrel Henderson the minute he committed on ESPNU and all the other schools have all of there commits as LOI's.

That's complete crap. Not that he really needs me to defend him or anything, but people haven't been asking Hat's opinion about different topics for years because he's always wrong.

USC just killed it. Rivals #2 class with 17 recruits with a star average around 4.2, unreal.

I want Kiffin to do poorly at USC, but I'm not counting on that or holding my breath for probation. He'll do very well there.

You call then the NFL equivalent of LA Tech? Was their schedule the NFL equivalent of the WAC?

I would compare the Raiders chances of getting to .500 with that of LaTech getting to that same mark when 7 bowl eligible teams are on their schedule.

It's funny how easily some of you can look over the fact that Rustin, LA is the arm pit of the planet. Making Rustin an attractive place for recruits isn't an overnight job.

Rushing to judgement without cause is a far less intelligent thing to do than support your school's head coach.

Does our judgement change Dooley's coaching ability? We'll happily share our own opinions. If we're wrong, we'll admit it.

If he's an excellent recruiter based in Louisiana, then it shouldn't matter. It isn't like he's going up against a bunch of teams straight off the beach in recruiting hotbeds. He's also coaching against programs in jerkwater cities. His main competition is Boise State and whatever WAC team decides they want to be relevant for a year. Better that than the Broncos or Chargers with your boss selecting whatever awful players he wants.

USC has only signed 18 and are up to the No. 2 class.

They could overtake UF for No. 1 on Rivals. Not likely, but wow. What a move.

I would argue yes. La Tech played the best competition they could including several big time programs and everyone in there conference. They played the BEST that they could, just like the Raiders.
