KY loses 8 players--will the Vols take over the East?

Patterson+Wall+Cousins+Refs=The country's most dominant team

Patterson+Wall+Cousins=A team that is only borderline top 10 at best. Just ask Duke how tough West Virginia is.

While I agree they get calls. Two things 1. WVU is GOOD. 2. You don't think Puke gets just as many if not more???

I also think Bledsoe and Orton going high in the Draft has more to do with the general hype of that team than anything else.
Yeah, because TV and internet babble are huge components of NBA scouts' player evaluations.

not sure if it's been discussed, but I heard Ogilvy has an agent....confirm???

edit: nevermind....found it. He won't play his final season at Vandy and will enter the draft. Plans to hire an agent...

The WNBA draft?

Florida's the favorite to win the SEC regular season championship, not just the East. With a roster depleted to just 8 scholarship players by season-ending injuries they played everyone tough and lost all but a couple their games in the closing seconds. That was with two PGs learning to run the offense on the job after PGs Calathes, Lucas and Hodge all left the previous season. Two starters were first year players, another two starters were playing new positions and the last one was learning to play without Calathes for the first time since middle school.

While Kentucky, Tennessee and Vandy are all incurring significant losses Florida's returning all 5 starters, will definitely get at least one of those season-ending injuries back and is bringing a good recruiting class. Florida's achilles heel last season was their perimeter shooting. If they'd been marginally better at it they would have probably finished second in the East this year. With additional depth where 4 starters won't be pushing 35 minutes per game, our point guards more comfortable setting up the offense and what's looking like ideal frontcourt depth opening up shots on the perimeter I think we're going to see a lot of improvement in that regard.

don't worry about Tyus declaring for the draft as he'll be back. he's just getting feedback from the NBA on what he needs to work on.

He needs to work on finding a barber on campus to shave the ridiculous looking shat off his head.

Tennessee will be better than Florida, and UK, at the least, will be more talented.

i dont necessarily think its underachieving by anyones standards except the standards of their own fans. which really isnt underachieving at all, its just their fans being homers.

thats essentially what I was trying to get at.... thank you for putting it in words everyone else could comprehend:hi:

isnt UF supposed to be amazing every year?
ummm no. they've been young and thin on numbers the past three seasons. we've only had a total of one senior starter over the last three seasons combined and he only started because someone had to replace starter Jai Lucas when he transferred immediately after the 2008-09 season opener. due to injuries, transfers and early entries in those same three seasons we haven't had a more than 9 scholarship players healthy enough to play at any point in time. it's been especially tough in our frontcourt where underclassmen have had to play out of position and without much help. combined with our youth it's been killer.

this coming season we've got 3 senior starters in our frontcourt. adding to that frontcourt rotation will be at least one but possibly both of the players lost to season-ending injuries last year and a recruiting class composed of McDonald's All-American Patric Young, Casey Prather and another forward. It was sophomore Erving Walker's first year playing point guard and the same with freshman Kenny Boynton who backed him up. Unsurprisingly our offensive efficiency took a hit but with more experience and a greater comfort level along with the point guard help we're going to get in this class we're going to be substantially better.

As it stands right now we're going to be entering the season with either 12 or 13 scholarship players. Aside from guys actually having competition for spots and being able to hold a real 5-on-5 in practice, our starters aren't going to be needing to push 35 minutes per game and will be much fresher as the season progresses. All 5 starters are back with even more help on the way while Kentucky, Vandy and Tennessee are sustaining substantial losses. With our depth and experience deficiencies and how close most of our losses were I can't help but think something good is in store if we can avoid injuries this coming season.

while thats all well and good you have to realize a good coach can make it happen. we lost probably our best player halfway through the year and we were down to 7 scholarship players in a game agianst Kansas and we won. Also we ended up in the elite eight, all without our best player. Excuses don't work here.
