Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I am glad you brought up the greater good. I have heard the “greater good” mentioned a lot during this pandemic by so many people. Where do you all stand on the greater good for where we are now as a country? Trump appears eager to reopen the economy but what is the risk health wise for the citizens of the U.S. if this is rushed too soon? Wait too long and the economic ramifications could be devastating. The country is already dealing with over 17 million people out of the job. Luckily, I am not one of those people that lost their job but I see the weekly losses of revenue for the corporation that employs me and wonder how long can we sustain losses this great?

Go back to work. Wash your hands don't touch your face.

I believe that most of the media/politicians overreacted, as this virus while slightly different and potent to older people and smokers, it's not a legit threat to 98% of the population.
I think we will start getting back to "normal" around May 1st. Hospitals (in Knoxville anyways) are already about to start planning to start elective surgeries again about that time.

I work for a lab provider in UTMC and can assure you we are no where close to capacity. 60% I Believe. Our outreach production has seen a decrease of over 50%. I will be so glad when this sh!t is over.

If he had just limited the Social Security and other programs into a 10-15 year program instead of how it is, and had used more foresight to separate health insurance from employers and make it more like other insurance, i truly believe things would have been better today in those areas[/QUOTE]

The alternative FDR had to health insurance by employers was a nationalized health service. Are you supporting that? Also, employers offer life, AD&D and short/long term disability insurance to employees. Is that wrong?

No, there should be several different options for health insurance. If it were able to be selected like car insurance, it would be more individualized and beneficial and allow for bargaining.

The current laws and licensing restrictions placed on by CMS and ACA and TJC have caused too much red tape and other issues for the current healthcare system

Not panicking at all but thanks anyways.

That was more of a statement to everyone not specific to you. I have seen your post and don't believe you are in the panic crowd. The general public is and it's because of a steady diet of mistruths permiated by fake news

Health insurance should be almost exactly like car insurance and have nothing to do with an employer or government.

I feel there are several "Karens" in this thread but since I don't know how to properly use the term, and don't want to be bashed for improper use, could someone educate me by properly replying to a couple of post?
I then reward you with an acknowledgement in the "What I Learned Today" thread
It'll also get this 50K quicker.

Right, because asking POTUS why he thinks he has "absolute authority" isn't worthy of an answer.

And you bring up Nazi and Soviet style... you are a joke

Lol, yet your hussein leader did way more damage to America that trump ever thought about. You're a pathetic socialist snowflake.

I'm late to the party, but Trump says only he can direct us accordingly. Trump says **** your rights. Lord Red Hat says **** everything you stand for.
