Weed Up, Hoes Down in Whitmer’s Michigan

Critics say Democratic governor's stay-at-home Order is Arbitrary and favors big businesses

Michigan's Democratic governor Gretchen Whitmer is facing bipartisan criticism of a stay-at-home order that shuttered gardening stores but deemed marijuana dispensaries and lottery ticket vendors "essential" to coping with the coronavirus.

Business owners are criticizing Whitmer's executive order, which went into effect April 9, as overly restrictive. While the governor has developed a national profile during the pandemic thanks in part to a feud with President Donald Trump, her critics point to the order's practical inconsistencies. The order allows for the in-person sale of alcohol and lottery tickets, as well as curbside sales of marijuana, but forcibly closes local businesses selling hardware supplies and gardening seeds, which critics argue allow residents to be more self-sufficient. The policy even extended to the inside of grocery and department stores deemed essential, as businesses roped off "nonessential" sections to comply with the governor's order.

The backlash comes in the midst of the governor's semi-public audition for a slot on the Democratic presidential ticket. After a March feud with President Trump, outlets from Politico to NBC News and the New York Times have praised Whitmer's leadership during the pandemic.
Whitmer has embraced the national spotlight, making an April appearance on Comedy Central's The Daily Show sporting a "That woman from Michigan" t-shirt, a reference to the March 27 coronavirus briefing in which President Trump used the phrase to refer to her. Since then, presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has named Whitmer as a vice presidential contender.
Whitmer's critics say the governor is politicizing the pandemic in a bid to secure a spot on the presidential ticket. Dr. Ann Marie Sastry, a small business owner and former engineering professor at the University of Michigan, said fellow business leaders are "looking for more than one-liners."
This deserves a like on the headline alone.

The “Invisible Enemy” is Communism, not Coronavirus

Posted at 8:04 pm on April 15, 2020 by John White

President Donald Trump is fond of referring to the coronavirus as an “invisible enemy”, which is correct, however it is the direct result of a much greater and longer-enduring evil that the civilized world has of yet failed to confront: the Chinese Communist Party.

We know for a fact that the novel Coronavirus/SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 originated in China’s Wuhan province. Despite flailing and bizarre attempts to shift the blame to the U.S. Military, China’s government and its puppet, WHO President Tedros Ghebreyesus, have admitted as much.

High school seniors could care less about any commencement lol. Much less by a guy that was president while they were 6-14 years old.
That's true for some, not for others.
It's the ones for whom it is not true, who are spearheading the effort.
Kind of the way it should be.

So you think it was okay for China to mislead the world? Or you just couldn't pass up a chance to take a shot at the Trumps?

more importantly, is it okay for our press to write stories that parrot what the Chinese government says but is completely skeptical about anything the current administration says?

Testing remains THE linchpin for both fighting the virus and reopening the eonomy.

Trump administration bungled that to the nth degree. Just mind boggling how poorly they handled that single most critical aspect of all of this.
It really has nothing to do with Trump. The "experts" at CDC and FDA bungled it, and has been reported by everyone beginning Mar 2. Where've you been?

Paul McCartney bashes China for keeping wet markets open: 'They need to clean up their act'

By Joseph A. Wulfsohn | Fox News

Music legend Paul McCartney slammed China for allowing the continuation of the controversial wet markets, where it has been suspected the coronavirus outbreak originated.

The wet markets have sparked a global debate since they allow the selling of exotic animals for human consumption, including bats, the animal which the virus is believed to have come from.

During his Tuesday appearance on "The Howard Stern Show," McCartney took aim at the wet markets and referred to eating bats as "medieval."

"I really hope that this will mean the Chinese government says, 'OK, guys, we have really got to get super hygienic around here.' Let's face it, it is a little bit medieval eating bats," McCartney told host Howard Stern.

The Beatles icon called on other high-profile figures to join the call in the termination of the wet markets.

"It's not a stupid idea, it is a very good idea," McCartney elaborated. "They don't need all the people dying. And what's it for? All these medieval practices. They just need to clean up their act. This may lead to it. If this doesn't, I don't know what will... They might as well be letting off atomic bombs, because it's affecting the whole world. Whoever is responsible for this is at war with the world and itself."

A sign of the times. The left would rather side with China than the POTUS. And then they try to justify such ludicrous behavior with "but Trump".

Student calls for Obama to deliver virtual address to America's Class of 2020 - CNNPolitics

1 damn student. F'n awesome.

The most ridiculous part of this is that CNN wrote a story about it. It's so perfect. Thanks for alerting us Luther!

This ground breaking story has two authors and one contributor from CNN - 3 people to write about what one high school student is thinking.

Where were they when I wanted Ozzy Osbourne at my commencement?

Hahah what a joke . The kids name is Lincoln. I can’t wait to see the spin they put on this. “I bet he has a future in politics like his idols Barack Obama and his namesake Abraham Lincoln that freed the slaves.” He’ll probably get a blue check mark and start doing town hall meetings with David Hogg on CNN and other sorts of annoying things.

Are you kidding? Maybe Hannity got it from WHO and then Trump got it from Hannity.
You think it’s just a coincidence the CDC was never permitted to go to Wuhan to help but the WHO was. The WHO sung China praises for handling it. Now we find out it’s all bs. Come on man. On top of that you don’t think Trump was either getting briefed by the WHO directly or by someone at the CDC who was? You are wearing your trump hating blinders too tightly. I would have at least entertained that Trump was kissing China’s ass bc of the trade negotiations. But you couldn’t even come up with that.

#blameChina

When that runs out, #blameWHO

Then of course there is #blameObama

#blamemedia

Who else can you blame so as to, as Trump says, not take any responsibility at all?

It was one student Luther - one damn student.
All ideas begin with one person volinbham - one damn person.
