The U.S. uses OPEC to maintain the dollar as the reserve currency. For the most part, you can't buy a barrel of oil from OPEC in non-US denominated currency. Sadaam and Gadaffi wanted to change that. Looked what happened to them. The petrodollar allows the U.S. to run mass deficits without suffering mass inflation. When the dollar was decoupled from Gold, there needed to be another means to back the dollar. Now, OPEC+ has emerged and is starting to become a thorn in the rump. This is Russia and many others attempt to punt the dollar as the reserve currency.

I don't know how accurate this is but it's convoluted enough to be believable.

Contract roll is tomorrow and that contract is trading $20 today. It will get pushed down on the roll but we don't need a $15 contango mom. Maybe $5.

Inventory is filling up though..$15 WTI is a fair price for the next few months.

Unfortunately we won't do a damn thing once this virus is behind us unless the government makes companies move their manufacturing away from China. I think we've seen enough from China to take all essential production and move it to North America or Europe. Screw China!

There is a difference between dying OF the virus and WITH the virus. The 40K+ official deaths are WITH the virus.

I get that we may not be counting the number of deaths OF the virus because of limitied testing. We are also not counting the number of people that have gotten the virus and showed no symptoms in our official testing numbers. It seems, the same way it seemed at the beginning that younge healthy people were statistically not affected, that more and more people probably had this virus already and nothing happened.

It's becoming more and more clear that a blanket closure of "non-essential" (whatever that means) businesses is far less preferable to targeted strict quarantine of at risk folks.

All the while, everything is shut down (except when its not), the government has handed out checks to every citizen that doesn't pay taxes while giving the Kennedy Center and renewable energy inititatives a windfall.

.....Laugh and ridicule these protesters all you want....but I swear, if I can get an anitbody test and it shows that I've already had this, I very well may be out joining them out of pure anger. I think this virus is already everywhere and the panic is manufactured.

I think that our approach to wave 2 will be very different. First, we let this get out of control in Feb and early March. So I think you are right - more targeted, HOPEFULLY better contact racing and isolation, etc. More rural areas will be given a longer leash because it is easier for them to get it under control, it seems.
