Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

As of yesterday, Alabama had 367 people hospitalized in the entire state.
I was wondering if you were going to jump on that BS. Bravo. And @mad4vols I’m sorry but we must now report you to the WH for spreading COVID and vaccine misinformation. You’re literally killing people. Sorry, those are the new rules.

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — The number of reported COVID-19 cases in Alabama has spiked nearly 40% in just the past 15 days. The number of coronavirus cases is at its highest level since February, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health.
In addition 9 children in Alabama hospitalized from COVID-19, one on ventilator.
40% from what level and how does that equate to the ICUs being full? Reporting this one to the WH also! Stop killing people dammit!

Nobody said the numbers were higher or lower from before except you, the doctor simply stated that their COVID icu unit was full. Everything else you added was irrelevant.
That is your opinion. It is relevant to some folks that are not informed about the reality of the situation. And if some go get informed so they don’t get panicked, then I deem it relevant. That’s my opinion. Peace out.

This is some of my frustration with how it's being reported. Very often no actual numbers of active cases are used. It's in percentage of increase.

Going from 25 cases to 35 cases is a 40% increase.

Ah, Volnation.

Person 1: I just painted this widget with paint colored to Pantone 151. It is now Volunteer Orange.
Person 2: That's just your opinion, you stupid lib. And it's wrong because I disagree.

That’s a pretty silly ass strawman to be pushing based on the last couple of pages. I thought you were data driven? Are you not aware enough to recognize the absolute counts vs percentage game? An increase In hospitalizations from 1 to 2 is a 100% increase and that would be the headline today. A case drop from 2 to 1 would never be acknowledged. It’s clear to anybody paying attention it’s all fear porn.

I wasn't referring to the case count (I acknowledged the incredulity of percentages earlier). Just blowing off steam.

It’s even worse than that - typically news reports will switch from % increase to real number increase, depending on what sounds more dreadful.

Give me the real number increase behind that percentage.

Also, I see a lot of MSM articles touting how safe the vaccine is. You're not helping. The same demographic that doubts the vaccine also greatly doubts MSM. All you're doing is making the people who wouldn't get the vaccine anyways even more skeptical of the vaccine. The same concepts can apply to the federal government's push for vaccinations. The more they push them, the more people distrust them.

The Backfire Effect. And you can't tell anyone experiencing the Backfire Effect that they're experiencing the Backfire Effect, because that will backfire as well and compound the whole thing and just make them mad. You'd think the .gov would have a PsyD or two on hand to remind them of that.

Sometimes you just have to sit back and let nature take its course. Those who want it will get it; those who don't, won't. And the virus will do what it's doing anyway and not give a crap whether you're vaccinated or not.
