Leonard Little, Jamal Lewis, Joey Kent, and Johnny Majors at practice #1

Glad to see that you support felony disenfranchisement and do not believe in the rehabilitative nature of our criminal justice system. Apprantely no one who has ever messed up can be a productive member of society. Let's all send them to a penal colony!

Judge not lest ye be judged yourself....
Please point out which post in which I said that neither could be a productive member of society. I merely think that they are not role models and should not be put on a pedestal.

He made a mistake and served his time. I personally think what LL did was worse, but that's an entire different story. Either way, they are both successful NFL players who bleed orange, so i think we can overlook some past transgressions and embrace them here. This is Rocky Top right, supposed to be "home sweet home", so we gotta give them that place to not be judged, because im sure other fanbase's do.

LL apologized to all the Tennessee fans for what he did on sports animal one day. You can tell he truly regrets what he did and has asked for forgiveness. LL still has my respect. On a lighter note Butch needs to get his picture made with Majors just to send Franklin a message Majors is still all Vol.

Jesus actually said someone should forgive someone "seventy times Seven" but he was speaking Metaphorically. In Jewish Tradition, the Number 7 is the Number of Perfection. Jesus as suggesting that you should always be open to forgiving those who wronged you. Just giving you some perspective and its something interesting to note. Its also relevant to the conversation since it was brought up.

In this case, I would be willing to give JL another chance as all people deserve when they go through the Justice System.
He has every right to be at practice, and every right to have a job, and be a productive member of society. My only problem is because one played a game at U.T., some would be willing to give them a get out of jail card for any wrongdoing , but would be fine with an unknown criminal rotting in jail for the same offense. There is a huge double standard.

I feel pretty confident that there are crazy USC and Buffalo Bills fans who think that O.J. should have gotten off for the simple reason that he scored a lot of touchdowns.

Perfect comparison.

I don't believe many, if any, of us are saying that he should have a get out of jail free card. We are saying that no one wants to give people a second chance after they've gone through the Criminal Justice system (and that goes for anyone. Try getting a Job with a record...I don't personally have one but I've seen some people have it a lot harder just to find a job.) They were Guilty, they did the time for the Crime. They are still Guilty for the past Crime but they are now considered innocent and we, as people, should have compassion and learn to forgive and move on.

I just watched the player interviews after practice on Go Vols Extra. I am impressed with the enthusiasm and intelligence of the players, and the fact that they really enjoyed having Little and Lewis and Majors at the practice. The team looks up to them, so it was a good move. Welcome back guys. I'm done with anything negative.

well said!

I would like to make a couple of points.

1) I said that I had not said anything bad about Lewis in my first sentence to differentiate myself from previous posters. It should be obvious to any moron that I did weigh in on the subject. I didn't promise that I wouldn't.

2) I am not a hypocrite as I suffered many ugly comments from people like yourself, with orange blinders on when I gave my opinion on Leonard Little a couple of months ago. I didn't feel it necessary to relive that situation.

3) I gather from the pro-crime crowd that if you want to commit a crime, then be sure that you wear an orange jersey and help U.T. win prior to said crime. If you follow these simple instructions, all will be forgiven by people who live their meaningless lives vicariously through the football team.

Matt. 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged."

Romans 12:19-21 "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."

For my response, please see post#106.

I did not bring up anything bad about Lewis, nor have I commented, but looking at the world through orange colored glasses is sure evident on Vol Nation. Apparently, conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute 5 kilos of cocaine, and being sued by Regions Bank for an unpaid $660,000 loan are not to be held against you if you ever carried an egg shaped leather ball across a certain stripe on the field at Neyland Stadium, for which you were afforded 6 points towards helping your team win. If he had not helped the Vols win, or had done same in Tuscaloosa, he would be just an ex-con.

Lets open the book on your life and see what we can find.

It wasn't just ANY certain stripe on the field though. It was the stripe that leads to the checkerboards. There IS A BIG DIFFERENCE!

I mean really. I love our new RB coach, but even HE has not crossed THAT particular stripe during a game. It's gotta be worth something.

You don't think we need to look at a black coach to help communication with a team made up of 90% black on the field. And now you don't think former players should be welcomed to where they feel home because they made some terrible life decisions.

I don't think you know jack **** about right and wrong and you have had so many discussions about how unfair the race issue is, I am beginning to think you are a closet racist. And that you have mentioned, "my neighbor is black" is more telling than someone who says they have 2 black friends during a debate.

Let's throw that word out there and get this really heated. We don't need thought police on Volnation. I disagree wholeheartedly with his post but there is no need to sling the racist epithet.

For my response, please go to post # 106. If you choose to open the book, however, you will find no arrests, no charges filed, no bankruptcies, no bad loans, no lawsuits, no car wrecks, never fired from a job, never any government assistance, etc. in 63 years of my existence. But, enough about me, go to post # 106, please.

I agree with your statement. When some people can't argue against a point made, they resort to the race card. The only situation that I weighed in on was to say that I didn't think that the race of the new running back coach should matter to recruits. It may matter to some, but I don't think that it should.

I said that I didn't agree with quotas, but if it turned out that the entire football team was made up of Indians, and the coaching staff had 5 blacks, 3 Mexicans , and 2 Asians, that it was fine with me, if they were the best at their jobs. I don't believe that I ever made a statement that I thought to be racist. In fact, just the opposite. I called for color blindness.

The only one that should have been allowed on campus is Majors. Little and Lewis are thugs, and Joey Kent did nothing.

I thought some of his comments in the black coach thread and not understanding why a black coach is important to some black families showed ignorance. I believe he called it racist on the side of the player/family, then said he had a black neighbor and "moved there knowing he was black" to prove he wasn't.
I tend to draw my own conclusions.

And it was over and done anyway. You just opened it back up.
